Hi All,

I'm going to be spending the summer at Harvard, and I was wondering if anybody could give me some insight on the public/school transportation system.

Are there any free school busses that run? I'm going to be living a mile or so south of Harvard Stadium, and I might need to commute every morning to Harvard or Mass General.

I've also looked into the T subway lines. Does anybody know how I can get go about getting a student pass?

Thanks!

Discounted student passes on the T are only available for junior high and high school students in the Boston area, who can get them from their schools.

If you’ll be affiliated with Harvard or with MGH, you can look into getting a discounted T pass – Harvard’s discount is 11%, and MGH’s is 25%.

Depending on where exactly you’re living, you will probably take an MBTA bus to Harvard Square, then the Red Line to MGH. Alterately, you might live close enough to the Green Line to take it across the city to MGH or across and up to Harvard. There are a few free MGH shuttles that run to various places in the area (Longwood Medical Area, where Harvard Medical School is located, and to MIT), but none of the MGH shuttles runs to Harvard or Allston.
