Transportation to airport

My daughter is seriously considering attending Clemson as an out of state student from Wisconsin. What are the options for getting to/from the airport? How convenient is it?

My son is out of state (New England) and has never had an issue getting a ride from a classmate to or from the Greenville airport. There is a private car service from Clemson to Greenville for $89 each way but we have never had to use it. The airport is about 20 miles from campus.

I’m from the Boston area and I’ve never had a problem getting a ride to the airport and now that I have a car, I usually return the favor and offer to give people rides to GSP (Greenville-Spartanburg Airport or Charlotte if I am flying out of there. There is also a shuttle service from Clemson to GSP (and I think they go to Atlanta and Charlotte as well) - don’t think this is what DadQuestion is talking about because I’ve taken it and it only cost me about $30/each way

My son is a freshman at Clemson. He has had a wonderful experience at Clemson so far. We are more than pleased with everything he has experienced at this school. My only challenge has been the transportation to the airport as we live in New England. We have been flying him in and out of Greenville and then using the Clemson shuttle to get him to the school. The shuttle is reliable and about 40 to50 bucks. But getting back to Clemson after winter break was bad. he spent all day in D.C., As it is hard for us to get a direct flight. He ended up on a late flight, when hid flight was cancelled. The shuttle adjusted the time they picked him up which was great.
Now that we are more used to how things work, we are moving from this system to getting a ride to Charlotte from friends and then flying directly to New England. More direct, and cheaper for us! hope that helps.

kimsalllen, my S is a junior, from West Coast. Freshman year, we used shuttle twice. After that, he always found rides, and now has car, so has given rides. Many kids drive right by GSP (and Charlotte). The kids do not view this as an issue after freshman year, but as Moms, we’re required to worry about this.

sounds like Clemson is experimenting with a free airport shuttle to Greenville or Atlanta this spring break: [Airport Shuttle : Clemson University](http://www.clemson.edu/campus-life/campus-services/parking/airport-shuttle.html) Hopefully this is something they’ll continue to do.
