do most colleges supply trash cans in dorm rooms?

My college supplied a large recycling bin, with a tiny trash can that hanged off the side of it.

But, I don't know if that's a common thing. Trash cans are cheap, you can always hold off on buying one if you don't know.

I wasn't supplied with one. It's not like it's something that you need to absolutely have the day you move in, so I wouldn't even worry about it.

We had garbage and recycling bins. They also provided trash bags. But don't worry about it, as OKgirl said.

We were supplied with a smallish one. We'll probably get a bigger one later, but for now we're set.

You should, however, definitely bring a smallish one to keep in your room so you don't have to get up and go into the kitchen (or wherever your trashcan is) every time you have to throw something away.

I was supplied with a trash can and a recycling bin. I was responsible for the bags though.

no trash cans for us.. which is a big problem becuase none of us thought to bring ones for the bathrooms/kitchenette. and i disagree, you probably DO need one the first couple of dyas because of all the unpacking stuff. get one a small one, theyre only $5 at most and if your room already has one your parents can bring to home and return it or store it for next year.

Yeah, you probably do need one. I already went through three bags of garbage, and today was my second day in my dorm.

Did you check with the college? Usually on the housing website, they'll tell you what furnishings they provide, which generally includes whether or not a trash can is provided.

Buy the bags now at least- if you have a trash can at school, then good. If you don't, you can just use the bags until you go out and buy a can. The bags are easier to pack.

a bit of wisdom: dont buy a mesh one.

...for those following along, it was a sight to behold.
