Hey everyone, I never been to college before. How is the trash dealt with in the dorms? Specifically the units?

Ahhhh now we're getting into the real minutia of dorm life! There's a trash can in your room and (I didn't live in the units last year) I think a trash chute on your floor.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but this is a minute question that did not deserve its own thread. This might be a stupid question, what are the sizes of the beds? are they twin or twin extra long? (In the Units)

twin xl size

twin extra long

yea, in the units there is a trash chute,so once your in-dorm trash can gets full, just tie it up and send it down the chute.

the best is at the end of the year when everyone is trying to dump their crap and the trash chute gets totally full, all 8 floors of it.

We GET a trashcan in our room? Or do we supply our own? If we get a trashcan, do we get bags too?

You get a trashcan, you pick up bags from the security monitor if you need it.

^ For $11,000+ a year, I'm glad we at least get free trashbags.

Free toilet paper too. :D

The trashbags suck. They break really easy and it's almost impossible to keep them on the trashcan. But it must be dealt with.

Free soap & paper towels in high rises. No free soap or paper towels in mini suites apparently.

@cheeks: why dont we get free soap/paper towels in mini suites, what the...

Along the same lines, why does living in a small room with another person cost $11,000? If I spent $1000 a month on rent, I could get a large apartment with 2 bedrooms. Where is all our money going?

Well, that money also goes towards food. Not good food, but food nonetheless.

No soap and paper towels in the minisuites, but all the toilet paper in the world. I took enough of the free toilet paper when I moved out to last our house about 3 months.

Shhhh.

u should bring ur own trash bags if u can. Thats what I did and no leaks or breaks at all. Also, dorms are easier to recycle bottles and cans (bins in bathrooms), so set aside a box for recycling.

Haha, yeah, at the end of the year the whole trash chute will be full up to the 8th floor. We started dumping all the trash in the hall way, and it was packed for at least 15 or 20 feet. It made going in and out with the trolleys a real pain!
