any current nyu students- about how easy is it to go from the main washington square campus of nyu to columbia? and how long does it take? i have a few friends going to columbia next year and i was wondering if itd be convenient to visit them sometimes

Very easy. I've done it a couple times. Take the A train up. Well, I live in Hayden, and the West 4th street station is practically nextdoor so...

Tell them to come down to the Village; god knows there isn't anything up there (well, Dinosaur BBQ is really good, but other than that). Anyway, it's not hard, but you'll probably do it much less than you think you would because it just takes a long time - half an hour (subway only, add ~15 min walking) on the weekdays, and more on the weekends.

Actually, you want to get on the 1 or 9 -- if you are closer to the A, then you can switch lines at Penn station or at Columbus Circle. There is no walking involved from the 1 or 9 -- it stops at 116th directly in front of Barnard/Columbia.

I suppose. I'm assuming he wants the process as simplified as possible. I.E no transfers.

Calmom, I think they stopped running "9" trains. There's only the "1" to 116th St. From the east side of campus, you can take the N/Q at 8th st and transfer to the "1" at Times Square.

it doesnt sound too bad... how about to cooper union? haha i have a bunch of friends in the city next year

Cooper Union can't be more than a 10-15 min walk from Wash Sq Park. Just go East.
