Did you say Socrates was a nuisance?
So everyone who questions authority and conformity deserves to be killed off asap right? I’m a high school '12er like you. You, nor I, nor ANYONE in high school or lower should comment on collegiate things like that. As another poster mentioned, the lib arts major isn’t hindering the education of an engineer.

I want to double major in computer science(or engineering) and psychology/cognitive science. Why? Not because I only want to make money, which is what another poster said about engineers (if I recall correctly) but because I want to HELP people. My goal in life is to enter the Human-Computer Interaction field to improve people’s lives with advanced artificial limbs, cognition assisting devices, and other things. Why? Because I was a counselor at a camp for children with disabilities and a little girl had an ineffective cognition (speech, in this case) assistant, and that inspired me to DO something about it. For her, and everyone else.

OP- I hate HS english and social studies too, but to survive as a mature adult in this world, one needs to be well-rounded. Yes, you can major in engineering, but how are you going to communicate your ideas and communicate with other people? A 30 page paper sucks, I know, but to say that half the world’s professional preference is useless and unimportant is a display of your immaturity.

I agree, I don’t understand the point of a gender studies major, or the like, and even though these people might not make a lot, their contribution to society, no matter how small, counts.

That’s the great thing about America (can’t speak for other countries, not familiar with their education systems. But the main reason people come here is for a better education in something THEY choose)-freedom of choice. You sound like you want to train an army of math/science people to take over the world. A little totalitarian dictator-ish.

You’ll probably not read this, or pass it for “not convincing” evidence. You need to be open-minded and willing to accept other’s reasoning. Something studying ONLY math/science won’t prepare you for.
