I am a sophomore at a selective, all-female, Catholic high school in Pittsburgh, PA. I know that it is harder to get into a European school if you are a non-EU student, and I was wondering what the acceptance rate is for U.S. students. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.6 and a weighted GPA of 4.2. I play lax and participate in Model UN. Just wondering if I have a chance. Thanks.
It depends on the subject, but in many ways it’s easier because you are expected to be full pay on higher fees than home students. (But it maybe harder than getting into a US university because there will be specific requirements.
Your sports are irrelevant. UN will only be relevant if it has an impact on the subject you want to study.
So: what subject do you want to study; what AP scores do you have or expect; and what SAT/ACT scores?
as @Conformist1688 said, your chances are overall better than an EU student, b/c you pay a lot more than an EU student. The entrance requirements are here. Trinity is working hard to broaden their courses, but even so, once you choose what subject you are going to study your class choices are much more limited than in the US, so choose carefully. Lacrosse exists but is very much a minority sport in Ireland (though they did well at the European Indoor championships!). IIRC, UCD has a lacrosse team, but TCD does not. Either way, there’s no recruiting, but the would likely welcome new talent (also, you will meet a lot of Americans in the lacrosse circles).
