Trinity Students

When I visited Trinity, I picked up a copy of the student newspaper and was surprised at the amount of complaint from students. Students complained about the library hours, overcrowding, administration problems, as well as otehr issues. It seemed like many students there were not happy, and I am wondering if anyone knows about this. I really liked the school, and I have also heard of students that loved the schools. Would appreciate any info.

I'm a first-year student at Trinity, and for the most part I love it. Of course there are some problems, but since I have been here I have found that the administration generally responds well to student requests (for example, the library hours were extended after the issue came up). I've only been there for a semester so I can't speak from too much experience, but it seems that there is a small but vocal population of letter-writers. I'm not complaining of course, because they are the ones who get things done. However, most students seem very content.

i have heard that trinity has a lot of kids from prep schools and they are very exclusionary. what's it like to go there if you did not to a prep school? i am probably more like prep school kids than kids from public schools because i go to a very small public school in westchester outside of new york city. i'd like to be in a fraternity, and am just worried that i will feel like an outsider if all the prep school kids bond only with each other

It's true that there are a great deal of students from prep schools, but I attended a public high school as well and don't feel ostracized. Kids from prep schools tend to know more people upon arriving, but in my experience they aren't exclusive in who they befriend. The fraternities aren't typical preppy hotbeds; although most people are well-to-do there's variety.
