Triple Room

What is it like to live in a triple room at Vanderbilt?

(Also, how many people usually occupy the dorm study areas? Is it loud there?)

Which dorm? There are a few triples in Hank Ingram for freshmen…

DS is in a triple corner room in Stambaugh.

The corner triples are huge, and right across from the bathrooms. The year my DD was a freshman, the dorm study area never had anyone in it except during exams. The only time the areas are loud were if there were planned events by RAs. The new dorms (Ingram, Stambaugh, etc) are very quiet–almost hotel like except during the weekend football events or if there are events on the Commons outside. The boys floors tend to be louder than the girls, but not terrible by any means.

Oh, and move in weekend is noisy just because of everyone moving in and having2-3 times the normal amount of people around.

One (expensive) purchase that my two sons used all four years and again now in graduate schools is noise-canceling headphones. At first I felt balk-ish about putting out the money but I was wrong. They were essential and also common in dorms and in libraries. There are hundreds of enticing distractions these days and silence or near silence helps.

Do the triples in Stambaugh have three closets? The only floorplan I have seen labels each room as a “double.”

Well, sometimes they cram 3 students into a double. That’s what happened to me at least. There are only 2 closets, and they bring in a wardrobe that smells really strange for the 3rd roommate.
