I'm looking at my housing options and Trop seems like a great choice, but has anyone stayed there their freshman year? Would you say it's good to stay there my first year?

Hello ilysamkandi,

I would definitely recommend Tropicana as a great choice for your freshman year. I stayed at Trop for my freshman year and loved it because I was able to meet many people through programs. Also, I loved not having to cook my own meals…and the food is awesome! One of my favorite things about living at Trop is that they would pack me a sack lunch if I had a long day at school and couldn’t make it back to the scheduled lunch hours, and when I had late classes, they would save my dinner in the warmer. It was just really convenient and easy for me to do well during my freshman year academically. I became an RA after my freshman year and loved the job and getting to spend more time with a great staff of people…so needless to say I would definitely recommend it!!!

I tried lunch at Tropicana Del Norte and it was nasty.

Check out all the post made by ariadachi, I honestly wouldn’t take anything he says to heart, he seems like a promoter. and from all the reviews I’ve read online, I personally wouldn’t go near there. I haven’t stayed there though, so I may be wrong.

from all accounts, it’s a cool place that has its ups and downs like anywhere else. it’s quite expensive for off-campus housing, but you do get a lot of extra stuff like free food and a RHA, which can make the “experience” better.
