Trust me, you want to read this

Please help me with this difficult decision: I want to study Computer Science and have been accepted to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the NYU College of Arts and Sciences. I´m asking you to tell me which one you would go to if you were in my situation. Please know that I´m not getting any financial aid because I am an International Student and haven´t applied for any.

“Trust me, you want to read this” Most people don’t. So there goes your trust.

Why don’t you re-post with a clear and sincere title like: “International student wants input on choosing RPI and NYU for CompSci”?

Nice fake title.

I have a very definite opinion on your question. Trust me, you’d really like to know it.

I trusted you and you let me down. tsk tsk. Why the hell would I want to read this?

Despite the ridiculous question, and the even more ridiculous answer, I will attempt to give you a serious answer.

For starters there are multiple things that you must consider, in no specific order: (1) Which location do you prefer? (2) Which one fits your budget better? (3) Which one do you think will give you better job opportunities? (4) Which of the two cities do you think you can afford to live in? (5) Consider size of both universitites, if that’s important to you. (6) Look into the requirements of a computer science major for both schools. (7) Which one offers other top notch majors majors/academics that you would be interested if you decided that computer science was not for you? (8) Which one has the social atmosphere that you are looking for?

Plus, if at all possible, you should visit both universities. Good luck!

Stop being so critical and answer his question >.<

As far as CompSci strength, I’m inclined to say RPI, but I don’t know much about NYU. I understand that Polytechnic merged with NYU so that probably helped the program a lot… Either way, the culture at the two schools is probably VERY different. RPI is definitely the more engineering type, and the male-female ratio is pretty bad. NYU is… in New York!

Trust me and goto RPI.

^^ (#7) He deliberately mislead us!

But a lot of CC topics get buried w/ no posts, so understandable in a way…
