How much influence does a letter of recommendation/put in a good word really have. from an involved Trustee?..Is it a game changer? Can it take a middle 50% stat applicant, and move them into a yes? Wondering what it really means. Anyone with experience with this? Thanks
Depends on how well you know the trustee. If they really do know you well then a letter will mean a lot.
I know the trustee, and they have met my child a couple of times. They Never had a meaningful dialogue. I expect they will have a long sit down in the fall. I have heard a broad range of thought. Some think Trustees have one favor a year for a deserving kid, others say it just means that you will get a proper look and a waitlist as a consolation prize… Anyone else with knowledge…
Tough call. Why not ask the Trustee? Seems like a reasonable question: how much influence do you have?
I am not tot sure I am comfortable asking. Feel so appreciative that they offered. A better friend seems to think they have significant influence. Guess we will find out at some point. Thanks for your thoughts…
You can try your luck, but do not pin too much hope on it. Ask your child to work hard on all other applications as well.
Of course. This would be a dream. He will have a well rounded list, and a plan b(ed2), and a plan C. Thanks for your thoughts…
