Hi everyone!
I am trying to choose between the nursing programs at Case and Drexel? There's a co-op program at Drexel and they are offering 15,000 scholarship money. At case, I am offered 25,000. I am not sure which one is a better fit. It definitely sounds like Philly (Drexel) is a lot funnier than Cleveland (Case). Any suggestions?

Btw, I am a high school, senior trying to decide if that wasn’t obvious. Thanks again.

These two schools are sooo different…I hope you are not choosing based on “funnier” (?) Have you visited either? Can you do an admitted students day at both? I’m not sure how you can ask strangers “which one is a better fit”. The fit is between you and a school… Tell us what you think are the pros and cons of each and what you are looking for.

What is the net cost at both?
If you look at the US News Rankings, you see Case is #15 and Drexel is #127 in nursing.

BSN students begin their clinicals their third week on campus and clock nearly double the national average of clinical hours during their time at Case.

Case is on the outskirts of Cleveland, but a free train ride to downtown.

Pretty sure OP meant “more fun” as in ‘you’ll be having more fun that you can handle with Nursing classes/commitments.’ But University City is a nice area.

Hi!

I came to Case as a nursing student, and was accepted to Drexel also. I am from that area so I knew Drexel better than I knew Case, but I definitely weighed them equally. I loved Drexel because it was close to Center City Philly, but seeing as how busy I am in college, I guarantee you will not have a ton of time to spend doing fun stuff so don’t choose a school based on the city alone. As a born and raised Philadelphian living in Cleveland, I love that the museums of the city are all at the University and are free-- I go all the time! Cleveland definitely isn’t as bad as everyone complains-- the food is great (little italy!) and it’s easy to get into the suburbs. The area around Drexel isn’t great, and it definitely gets overshadowed by Penn, which I didn’t like. I also hated that you had to commute all the way to Hahnemann hospital downtown at Drexel, whereas at Case, you do clinicals at UH across the street.

Hope that helped!

I applied to both, but I believe Case is a much better school, and it is ranked much higher. Since they gave you significantly more money, I believe its an easy decision, but you also have to look at the feel you get from both.

Cleveland seems just as fun as Philadephia and believe it or not, safer than Philadelphia. We spent time looking at Penn, Swarthmore and Haverford, and took the subways, trains in both cities, and Philadephia has some very bad areas. Cleveland does too, but they feel somewhat safer as Cleveland is a much smaller city.
Also the area surrounding Case feels very safe, University Circle. Drexel is right next to Penn and it feels a bit more like a huge city right there. Cleveland has great spectator sports, world class museums and orchestra as well as the Lake Erie lakefront that is beautiful. Both cities have wonderful architecture and good food at good prices. Case Western is the smaller and harder to get into nursing program, as I understand it, compared to Drexel. You have both Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital close by to Case Western as well.
