I’m 19, I’m heading into my sophomore year at a community college here in California, and I’ve made some good progress towards my transfer goal to USC’s BFA Acting program. I’m a theatre major here, with an emphasis in acting, and I have worked really hard the past two semesters (and summer session) to attain a 4.0 gpa, as well as to beef up my resume with, you know, acting stuff!!!
I am planning to supplement my education at my local community college (I attend Chabot College in Hayward) this year, with classes from Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and an intensive at ACT in San Francisco. Acting is something I take very seriously, and I am always seeking out ways to improve my craft and give my resume that competitive edge. But my academics are important to me as well, and I feel that USC offers a really excellent mix of both! USC’s program for acting is widely regarded as one of the absolute best in the country, and working on that high of a level could really help me to become the “full- package” actor.
I was wondering what my chances would be for admission- as a transfer- to USC’s BFA Acting program? I realize that transferring is a ways away for me (I’ve only completed a little less than half my required GE units here, and I want to get my AA first), but I do want to ensure that I am doing what I can to ensure the best chances for myself.
I’ve already got a few monologues up my sleeve for the audition!
Thank you so much for your help, and I apologize if my thoughts are a bit scattered. I just got back from Europe about two days ago, and my internal clock is quite upset with me still!
