<p>That’s why you need to schedule your classes in the afternoon when you are in college lol. sleeping is one of the most important factor for succeeding.</p>

<p>Like others have said, ice cold water is good for staying awake. Another thing I would do if I was really tired and needed to stay awake was sit in the front row. No matter how sleepy I was, I was really conscious of the fact that the professor could see me and stayed awake the entire lecture.</p>
<p>Also, on the topic of class length, I’ve never heard of a 90 minute class. We had 50 and 75 minute ones and three hour labs, but never a 90 minute class.</p>
<p>As for class length - at my school we have 3 hour classes (typically labs/special courses), 110 minute classes (writing/seminars), 80 minute classes (the standard lecture class), and 50 minute classes (recitation, language classes). I could even fall asleep in the 50 minute one, lol. I fail at sleep except for in boring classes…(currently awake at 1:30am for no reason…)</p>
<p>I have a 180 minute class + 15 minute break. GAH. This is just lecture…
I draw alot. drawing actually keeps me focused because I hear alot better.

<p>I have some that are 70 minutes and some that are 90 minutes. Not gonna lie - some of the lectures, particularly the 8:30 AM bio lecture or the 3:00 PM astronomy lecture (where the teacher turned out the lights to use a powerpoint…basically inviting us to sleep, haha) definitely made me feel like dozing. Generally, I would try to move around a tiny bit - shift my weight, tap my toes, etc. - and would bring tea (not much of a coffee drinker), or cold water when it was warmer.</p>
<p>I actually agree with uyulove that drawing helps me. Doodling for a brief period of time keeps me awake and focused, so I don’t feel sleepy at all. Just my two cents.</p>
<p>Take your classes in the morning/afternoon and staying awake won’t be much of an issue. I tend to doze off if I take classes in the evening but whenever I get sleepy i’ll do work for another class if I can or I’ll doodle on the side of my notes. Also cold water always helps.</p>

<p>I totally agree with you even though I was amazed to see somebody actually sleeping in the front row once. It’s also a good way to not be distracted by the people in front of you on Facebook or playing Tetris.</p>
<p>Also try not to eat lunch half an hour to an hour before class, especially if it’s in a dark lecture hall. Food coma is deadly.</p>
