Trying to Transfer to Cornell

Hey. I am looking for some advice on my situation.
First off, I recently got a letter from Cornell's ILR school inviting me to apply to transfer there. One catch though, I recently changed from a Business major to a premed/chemistry major. I really love science so I think I may stick with it, but Cornell's ILR school looks like it has opportunities that I could really enjoy. Should I consider going back into business? Or should I apply to Cornell's school of Agriculture and Life Sciences and list business is my second choice?

Secondly, do I even stand a chance of getting in Cornell anyways? I have a decent resume, but I am sure it's not very impressive to a school like Cornell. I am a community college student, I have a GPA of 3.57 and I am on track for a 4.0 this semester. I was Vice President of the East Tennessee Region of Phi Theta Kappa. I also did most of this working 25-30 hours a week. I have done some studying abroad. I did a study on the European Union last spring (with college credit) and I am going to study genetics (also college credited) at the Galapagos Islands next summer. One problem is that have not took the ACT from where when I was home schooled I was not pushed by my parents like I should have been. However, I have recently took practice tests and scored around 31-33 so that score is what I am expecting to get when I take the test. With all this in mind, am I a competitive transfer? I really want to get into Cornell, but I think my chances are mediocre at best... Especially considering I did poorly while I was home schooled.

How did you get a letter from ILR? Did you give them information about yourself? I am just curious how they got your information. I don’t think a 3.57 will get you into Cornell, but who knows, if you have a good essay and awesome EC then that might be okay. Its seems like you have some good ECs so id give it a shot. If you are applying to ILR, then you don’t need the ACT if you are a transfer, so you wont have to worry about that. But which college do you want to go into at Cornell?
And the deadline for spring semester was the 3rd, did you already apply? or are you thinking about applying for the fall?

Hey guys,

anyone knows what to expect from ILR phone interview?

What was your study on the EUI about? Does it have anything to do with your interest in Chemistry/Premed or business?

To Answer Ashpel. I did not send them any information, they sent me a letter that I definitely did not expect. I am guessing it was because of my extensive involvement in Phi Theta Kappa that they expressed interest in me as a student.
I will be applying there next Fall. Also, I am still on track for a 4.0 this semester so maybe that will boost my GPA to a safer range to get accepted as a transfer. I will apply to their ILR school (their over 50% acceptance rate of transfers I recently found also encourages me) since they expressed the initial interest in me and I meet all their transfer prerequisites. I don’t think the fact that I have a 4.0 in all my sciences and maths from my science background will hurt me as a transfer applicant either.

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to reply. And Emerald Pen, my EU study was took in Greece in Italy. The study was on a basic encompassing concept of the European Union, why it was created, what its current function is, and what it is doing now.

Did you get in op?
