Tufts seems to guard its ED I & II acceptance numbers. Any ideas about how many of the approximately 3700 acceptances come from ED? Trying to calculate a possible acceptance rate for RD. Thanks!

Well, the Tufts Class of 2025 Facebook group currently has 760 members. That would give you a lower bound on the number who were admitted through the ED rounds. Might round up to 800 or 850 to account for ED students who didn’t join the group.

I applied RD and my FAFSA date was changed to 3/25/2021, can this mean something?

Probably 35-45% of the enrolled class came from ED1/2. Last year there were 3770 acceptances and 1615 enrolled overall, blending ED and RD. So, roughly 565-726 enrolled were ED but 100% of those offered ED1/2 do not accept (I think natl average is like 85%), so maybe closer to 665-854 of ED1/2 were offered acceptance. That would leave 2916-3105 offers left for RD. With the unknowns of Covid, it may be that Tufts has sought to enroll more from ED1/2 to have less variables for RD yield, so those may not be conservative enough for this year.

Thank you! From a recent Tufts communication: They received 31,190 applications this year. They’ve said that they will accept roughly the same number of students as last year. Let’s use 3800. That’s a 12% overall acceptance rate if all applications are considered. Going with the 850 ED number, that leaves about 2,950 acceptances to be given, estimating around 10% for regular decision. Brutal year, everyone. Stay strong.

To be accurate, I need to know how many students applied ED. This is a ballpark. Don’t want to freak people out too much.

Your calculation assumes 100% yield rate. The actual acceptance rate will be still low but higher than your estimate.
