Tufts "environment you were raised" supplement

the question- “Describe the environment in which you were raised—your family, home, neighborhood or community—and how it influenced the person you are today.”
would it be inappropriate to talk about a community that i joined about a year ago? it has influenced who I am today but it wasn’t an environment in which I was raised.
generally having trouble coming up with ideas for this question because I don’t want to resort to cliched cultural backgrounds etc!

For my Tufts application, I wrote about how my mother’s generosity towards strangers impacted me into always donating 10 dollars to a homeless person whenever I go to NYC since it could possibly save their life

Don’t take the supplement too literally. I got in two years ago and wrote about my extended-family through the lens of a family vacation. I think the admissions officers just want to see your personality and what’s important to you. If the community is genuinely important to you, write about it.
