Tufts experience for a black female?

The title says it all. I was recently accepted, and Tufts has been my top choice but I am also considering Wellesley and George Washington University. I just want to know about the experience of black females at Tufts considering I didn't see very many when I visited. This is not to trigger a negative response, but this is just genuine curiosity. thanks to anyone who can help

Anyone? :/

So, all black females have the same experience? One bit of advice my Dad gave me, “When going hunting for deer the first time make sure you bring the hunter who has actually killed deer, as not all deer hunters are the same.”

I knew I would get such a response, hence my last 2 sentences. Sigh.

You posed a completely appropriate question, and I’m sorry to see that you didn’t get any helpful responses. Why don’t you ask the Admissions Office to put you in touch with some black women students who would be willing to talk to you about their experience at Tufts? If you still don’t feel you’ve gotten an adequate picture, ask the women you speak with if they can suggest others who might have a different perspective.

@IRIS103 Thanks for that tip. I’ve felt so discouraged and uncomfortable with asking this question, but it is something important I need to consider before attending. Thank you for not reacting negatively and understanding why this is an important question to consider.

@IRIS103 has sage advice. Drop me an email and I’ll make sure you get networked to the folks you need to talk to. Ask the questions you need to ask. Where you go is a HUGE decision and if you’ve got issues gnawing at you, let us hash them out together. And, if you don’t feel like your concerns are being met with support and understanding, that can be telling about if the culture of an institution is good fit for you.

I do fail to see how asking if all black females have the same experience is a negative. But, I will assume that I am missing something. Good luck with Tufts or wherever you choose to attend.

My D has been accepted as well, and did attend their “Voices of Tufts Diversity Experience.” She LOVES it and it has been her first choice, until getting accepted to UPenn last week (shocked!) So now the decision remains…

Choose Tufts over Penn!!!

Congrats @picktails to your daughter!

Thank you! class clown, why do you say that?

I visited both and really liked the vibe at Tufts. Sure Wharton is WELL known but it seemed very cutthroat to me. The rest of the school looked good though. Also, it seemed like there is alot more going on in Boston. Can’t go wrong with either though!

She’s not attending Wharton. she’s accepted to CAS - poly sci major. I think Quaker Days has her 99% on the way to choosing Penn.

My older one attended Penn; my younger one is at Tufts. Entirely different campus cultures, and the size of Penn makes University City a mini-city all by itself. The adjacent neighborhood is pretty dangerous and there’s lots of crime. Tufts is a more quaint environment. Can’t go wrong with either choice.
