Newsweek, in their Kaplan College Guide, identifies 25 schools as the "new Ivies": http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14325172/
I'm sure it is of no surprise to those frequenting this post, that Tufts has made Newsweek's list of schools listed as their "New Ivies". I guess since the Ivies are many peoples' idea of excellence in education, it is an honor to be included on this list. Those who are familiar with Tufts already know of it's reputation as a school of excellence.

Well said.

It does seem rather odd to me however, that Newsweek includes schools like Skidmore which are quite obviously 2nd-tier institutions with schools like Vanderbilt, Tufts, Emory, Bowdoin, etc. that have held long-standing academic reputations and are some of the most selective institutions in the US. But, it will undoubtedly assist in growing awareness of Tufts.

I'm excited about this! I hate how so many people have no idea that Tufts is an excellent school, simply because they haven't heard of it. Hopefully this puts Tufts in a larger spotlight.

I saw it on the Today show this morning, yay for publicity!

Yea! Out here on the west coast, people have either never heard of Tufts or say it is an incredible school.

So, it is about west coast only if that's what you wanted to say.

It isn't only the West Coast that hasn't heard of Tufts - people around me in Pennsylvania are pretty clueless, too.

Even some New Jerseyans give me blank stares, and there are SO MANY New Jersey kids at Tufts. People are clueless.

Tufts got good coverage on Seinfeld:

TAXI DRIVER: "Oh, yeah, sure, and now I'm gonna be stuck here. But you knew the way to go! You went to college!"

ELAINE: "Hey, I went to Tufts! That was my safety school! So don't talk to me about hardship."

The shame of my life, that my fave TV show made my college's standing plummet.

KIDDING. Not REALLY the shame of my life. lol

Some how this post always takes a positive subject and manages to put a negative spin on it. Be proud Jumbos!!!
