Tufts Safeties?

My son applied and was accepted to Cornell, William and Mary, Boston College, Lehigh (scholarship), and several other schools. He chose Tufts, because of it's great location, friendy interesting students, tons of activities, and size of the school. He has the option for a guaranteed transfer to Cornell or William and Mary, but he is a Jumbo through and through!

In a way, I think Tufts Syndrome does exist. After April Open House and the Telescope sleepover, I overheard an admissions officer and a parent talking about the admissions process. The admissions officer did say that they want to accept kids that will most likey go to Tufts. He said they look at not only your grades and accomplishments, but also things like if you've ever contacted the school, if you're signed up for the mailing list, or went on any school tours.

Oh and my safeties were umass, wpi, and syracuse and i also applied to babson, bc, brandeis

I'm applying to Tufts, and my list of safeties are: BU, GWU, Macalester, USC (accepted), and Clark (accepted). Hopefully Tufts says!

usc is an awesome school to already have been accepted to...good luck

I applied to Tufts (as one of my "match" schools), but now I'm not so sure if I'll make it in. The regional alumni assoc. contacted me for an interview during finals week, so I asked if I could have one after my finals. Turns out that was too late for them (they had to have the interviews done immediately), so I had to decline. I'm pretty sure they got the impression that Tufts isn't my first choice.

Aw, Tim Li, I love you. Why must you live in Stratton next year?!?!

I think the solution to Tufts Syndrome is: SHOW INTEREST. Not that difficult.

Heyy, I got deferred from Tufts and during that time I wondered about what I could do to improve my chances (Tufts remains my #1). I wrote a small letter expressing that despite my deferral, it is still my top choice university. I also sent in an update of my ec's. Was that a smart move? I mean, I wrote a SHORT letter because I was afraid that they may get annoyed if i wrote this huge long essay. I have shown continued interest - do I get some props?! haha. =)

My matches/safeties were BU, NYU, Hamilton, Barnard, Skidmore.

My reaches were Georgetown, JHU, Tufts, Cornell, Wellesley, Dartmouth, and Northwestern. Got into them all, luckily for me (though it made the decision process more difficult than I'd ever dreamed!), and will be graduating from Tufts in a month (eek!). I'd pick to come here all over again :)

Hm. Tufts was my match along with Boston College and NYU, i had a 1480/1600 and a 2150/2400. I got into the boston schools but not NYU (to surprise). And I did get rejected from both my reach schools even with double legacy at one of them But my safety was the University of Texas at Austin.

yay for UT!! :)

Applied to:
- Northwestern (Liberal Arts)
- Penn (Liberal Arts)
- Georgetown (SFS)
- BU (an honors program I forget what it was exactly)
- NYU (Liberal Arts)
- Duke
- Brown
- Wesleyan
- Swarthmore

Accepted:
- all except a waitlist at Brown and Duke

Tufts is not so much a safety for those applying to top schools as is it a second choice. Many simply cannot be swayed by the allure of the ivy league. I myself, was one of them, hoping to go Cornell, and though I was waitlisted there and rejected at Penn, I felt it was equally difficult to get into Tufts, and am very excited to be attending next fall. It's unfortunate that if I had gotten into Cornell, my dream school, I probably wouldn't have given Tufts full consideration just because, well, it was Cornell. But right now I'm glad things turned out differently :-)

My safety was going to be wheaton college (in MA) but i got into boston college EA so i didn't bother to apply

i also was accepted at carleton, colby, bates, connecticut college, northwestern, and i was waitlisted at middlebury, haverford, and bowdoin
