Tufts Undergrad for Medical School

How is Tufts for top 10 medical school acceptances? I know that there is the early assurance program for Tufts medical school, but how does Tufts do in terms of acceptances to other medical schools (specifically, top research institutions)?

This isn’t necessarily answering your question, but I think it’s still good info to know. Tufts Med highly favors applicants who did their undergrad at Tufts. In any given year 75-90% of applicants get into med school, which is amazing. Of those who have a 3.5 GPA, that number goes up to 90%. The link below says all of this as well in one of the answers to the questions.

@HelloHello54321 I think you misread the information on the link you shared. The webpage says- “Our overall acceptance rate to U.S. medical schools is between 75-90% each year. If you focus on those students who maintained a 3.5 GPA, it rises to over 90%.” That means the rate mentioned encompasses all the medical schools students from Tufts apply to and not just Tufts medical school.

@goomgoom I’d say a degree from Tufts would definitely set you on the right path towards getting into a top 10 medical school but it depends on the work and effort you’re willing to invest in it

Thank you!

Thank you!

My son is a premed at Tufts and is graduating this year. He had an extremely successful application cycle. Got into multiple schools and at the end was picking between 2 schools that offered him full scholarship. He’s going to a top 10 research program in the country. So to answer your question Tufts is great for premed. It’s true what the posters above said, Tufts loves their own students for their med school. My son did get into it, it was just really expensive. I can’t say I was thrilled with the premed advising but maybe it’s same in other schools also. But you need to be proactive and know what you have to do. Advisor will not hold your hand and tell you what you need to get into med school. You need to figure that out in your own. generally my son saw the prehealth advisor once or twice a year and those visits didn’t really give him any info that he didn’t already have. PM me if you have any specific questions.

@momworried- Congratulations to your son!

Time really flies.

Seems like not that long ago he was a new Jumbo…

Thank you @Mastadon. Yes, I can’t believe graduation is next week. Where did the 4 years go?! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was asking questions about Tufts as a new parent. And now my first one is graduating and my second kid is flying home today after finishing her freshman year.
