tufts partners with brandies, bc, and neu for their special med program where they accept you early if you have 3.5, general bio, general chem, and organic chem on your transcript by soph year (correct me if im wrong). hmm... so the question is.. is tufts medical school really that good? or is it simply the most expensive medical school?

I just would like to know whether the entire program is worth considering if one would like to be come a doctor and not worry about the MCAT, yet, this sole individual would definitely want to attend a prestigious medical school, would tufts be the right place?...

My friend recently applied for the combined degree program between Tufts undergrad and the med school, just for the hell of it, and he got in and is thrilled.

You are DEFINITELY NOT guaranteed a spot if you have a 3.5. You probably need at least a 3.7 to be competitive. And there are very few spots—so you better be at the top of your Tufts pre-med class.

A decision to apply to Tufts based primarily on the possibility of early admission to the Tufts med school is questionably reasoned.

In my mind, one of the things that defines Tufts' students is that they view college, education, and their experience at Tufts as more than just a stepping stone to somewhere else. If that's your thought process, then the culture at Tufts may be one you'd find uncomfortable and you may have difficulty connecting with your peers.

If, however, you are asking because you are already intrigued and the early admission program is icing on the cake, then know that Tufts has an excellent medical school with a great deal of opportunity to grow apart form the excellent traditional clinical instruction.

I am indeed intrigued by Tufts University as well as Tufts medical school, and it is surely the "icing" on the package as a whole. Hopefully, one day I'll be a Tufts Alum.
