Tufts University Early Decision II Class of 2021

is anyone thinking of majoring in something humanities/arts related?

I am thinking of majoring in biology with a bio-medical sciences minor! I am really into dentistry and will probably be in the pre-dental society, Anyone else thinking of a bio major?

Damn, looks like they’re only gonna admit 100 for ED II this year as they admitted 574 ED I and half of the class means about 675 students. So it’s gonna be harder for us… :frowning:

100 out of 21,057… oh dear :c

Can anybody find how many people applied ED II??? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t seem to find it

lol @AwkwardMortal if you do the math for previous year’s. x=EDI y=EDII (1.16x+1.06y=2310). and x+y=2070. Turns out that y is in the low 900s range and 100/900=11% seems lower than RD :frowning: but hopefully they take in more than 100. I guess we will never know before hearing back.

I bet they will defer most of us

I am really nervous. I hope they accept more than 100 people from ED II… but I guess we’ll see. I don’t know if I can wait until February 15 lol

are decisions definitely going to be released on Feb 15th? or could they come out earlier?

The website says by Feb. 15th. You would think they could be earlier but last year they waited till the 15th so I guess we will see! @co2017co

Any guesses as to when we’ll hear by? Before or on the 15th?

@kwnstandina last year they waited until February 12, which was a Friday. One year went to as early as February 8th, and results seemed to be released on Mondays or Fridays at 2:30-3:00 so I think our best bets would be February 10, which is a Friday, or the following Monday, February 13, about 13-15 more days!

So I have been reading about having alums in your family and how that affects your chances in the admissions process. It seems to help very little and my question is if you have interned and volunteered under an alum and they wrote you great recommendation would that rec. also minimally affect my chances? I was really hoping it would boost my chances but I am just wondering if anyone thinks maybe I am weighting that rec. to highly? Sorry to post it here but we all seem to have a pretty good convo going haha

Hey! Did anyone else get an email saying their interview request wasn’t able to be met? Is it a bad sign if I didn’t get an interview?

No, sometimes interviews can count against you. If they really find something or hear something they don’t think makes a good fit, it can be a game changer. Hopefully, your app is a good reflection of what you can contribute. I wouldn’t worry about it. Your chances are not diminished with the lack of an interview.

@preppedparent It’s quite rare that an interview can count against you, though. And most of the time those things would be major red-flags like lying on the app, making up activities, etc. Most interviews, especially for selective schools, are designed to help the student get a better feel for the school that they’ve applied to.

Tufts just contacted my counselor and asked for my senior year grades as of today…any idea what that might mean for my admission prospects? Thanks

I’ve had a consultant say don’t chase interviews. They can hurt you. My two students who have experience with interviews had mixed results. Neither had interviews for the top schools they now attend. So, I don’t think NOT getting an interview will hurt you.

Yeah. I agree with @preppedparent. My mom’s friend is an alumni interviewer for NYU and she says that interviews can help you but can also count against you more. Anyways, I thought my Tufts Interview went pretty well and my interviewer said he would write an extraordinary evaluation (Maybe that’s what he tells everyone lol), but hopefully we’ll all get good results next Friday or the week after

Chances we find out this week?
