Tufts University Early Decision II Class of 2021

Hello I just felt like we could get a thread going on for those planning on doing Tufts ED 2 this year. We can foster friendships here yayayayay (:

Also, I heard ED 2 is harder. Is that true :c

What are you guys’ personal plans? Personally, I’m looking into their pre-med program. Unfortunately, got rejected Cornell ED but I love Tufts now so! Even if ED2’s harder, doesn’t hurt to try

I plan on going for Econ but I am not 100% on board. maybe like 85% LOL best of luck to you though!! (:

I’m going Biochem. fingers crossed. is it harder, are u sure?

ED 2 is harder but still it’s easier than RD right? @AwkwardMortal

I am not entirely sure, actually. I guess we can just all hope for the best. BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE!

How many people apply under ED2? I imagine not that many because it’s a huge commitment to write a bunch of regular apps but still be bound to Tufts…

Oh and is getting deferred even possible in the ed2 round?

@julianator , yes.

hey everyone! I’m also applying ED2 and noticed that on the application checklist in the portal it said the deadline to submit midyear grades is 2/`15. since we’re finding out mid-February that seems really late–are you guys planning to send in those grades earlier??

@lb1218 They’re not gonna evaluate your midyear grades if it arrives after mid-jan, so no point in sending it. Same case with my school. Tufts’s decisions come out during my mid-year mocks so only the first semester is gonna be counted

Btw who applied ED 2? Comment here!!! Finally sent my app in

@tigressk911 so if I don’t send midyear grades in the next few weeks & haven’t sent anything else this semester it’s ok that none of my senior grades will be evaluated?

But my school automatically sends midyear grades to every school and that’s usually around 1/30. Since that’s past the third week of January, will Tufts consider it? My grades up to December (Q1) have already been sent and they’re decent but I’m worried about the January grades becase I haven’t been doing well for the past month or so. :frowning:

it wont effect your decision if youre going ED2 @Bjklw2a
yes that’s right, since decisions will already be out. only first semester grades of senior year @lb1218

I’m not sure though, but a blog post says that midyear grades are considered for ED2. http://admissions.tufts.edu/blogs/inside-admissions/post/early-questions/
(Under Question 2: Is ED1 “easier” than ED2? )
“The main difference between the ED1 and ED2 rounds is a matter of the grades we see. For ED1 applicants, the fall semester of 12th grade is a work-in-progress. We will request first-quarter grades (or trimester if that’s the system used in your high school) but your mid-year status report is, obviously, unavailable in late November. That means the results of your junior year will carry a bit more weight during the ED1 round. For ED2, we will have your midterm results for your senior year. We don’t need to guess how you’re doing in the senior curriculum you listed on your Common Application.”

Do you think ED I or ED II is easier to get into?
I am a Questbridge finalist but i didn’t match and was just wondering if there are any more out there with Tufts as their #1??
Can we still request interviews?
Thanks!!!

@kwnstandina honestly I don’t think there’s much difference between ED1 or ED2. I guess you could argue that ED2 is slightly more difficult because seats have already been filled but I really don’t think there are many people they’d accept for ED1 but deny ED2. In both cases, you’re telling them they’re your first choice. As for interviews, you can request one from your application portal & the deadline for doing so is 1/8. And congrats on being a Questbridge finalist that’s really impressive!

ED2 might be a little more competitive with Ivy defers/rejects coming into the pool. Check past results threads and you’ll see. But should it really matter? As long as you love Tufts, go for it!

Hi everyone! I did ED2 as well for Tufts… best of luck to you all! Hopefully i’ll see you guys at school next year
