Tuition Cost for Out of State

Can anyone tell me what to expect to pay for tuition and room and board to attend Ole Miss from out of state. Im aware it's fairly cheap, does anyone know why.

Im from NC and what would be the best way to get to school and back home during holidays? Its 11 hours away. I suppose flying to Memphis then getting a cab to Oxford.

In state tuition is low because the state of Mississippi subsidizes the school.

The differential between in state and out of state is low because the college wants more smart and/or full-pay out of state students to attend.

The cost is mostly $6000 for in state tuition plus $10,000 the out of state differential plus about $9000 room and board (freshmen must live on campus).

They told parents at the family section of freshman orientation that 1) there are constantly students driving back and forth to Memphis and it is not hard to informally catch a ride with a driver and 2) Ole Miss has an active on-line ride-board type system and 3) at some point in the future, the university will be affiliated with a shuttle service that runs between the Memphis airport and the Oxford campus.

Parts of Ole Miss that are very appealing to out of state parents are the Chinese Flagship and the highly selective Croft international program and the CME and the SMB Honors College.

Also, depending on your student’s academic credentials, there are scholarship opportunities like the Academic Excellence scholarship that could help defray some of the costs.
