@mmurov just heard from Tulane
Thanks! I wonder if it’s a bad sign that I haven’t heard back yet.
Has anybody heard from American? My son got in and received some financial aid. I am guessing that it would have been included in the financial aid letter if he received it but he has not been officially rejected. He seems to be striking out with tuition exchange especially since he picked schools with very few scholarships. My older child received it at almost every school he applied to but he had exceptionally high stats.
Maybe reach out to the liaison there to get a sense of the timeline. That’s what I’ve been doing. Still waiting on some though
Same here - accepted with merit but no word on TE.
My daughter was accepted with TE at American. I don’t know how many spots there are, but it seems to be very few. She’s elated to have received one, especially since it appears to be the most generous scholarship they give, aside from the Frederick Douglas scholars. The others top out in the mid-20s it looks like.
Still, as it’s a set rate school, even with the $5500 loan, it’s pretty steep. She’s waiting on acceptances from a few highly selective colleges with allegedly very generous financial aid and if one of those comes through, she’ll likely decline the AU offer. She loves AU and is in the honors program there as well, so it will be a tough decision.
Grateful for the TE program, but wish it could be available to everyone who applies and offer full tuition everywhere.
Thanks for replying and congrats and good luck to your daughter! I suspected they had notified TE recipients already but were waiting to send rejection letters until they knew about acceptances. My older child received TE at many schools. A couple of them would have been full tuition but he ended being lucky enough to get a full ride to a non-TE school. The private schools generally still end up being expensive even with TE.
My daughter received TE at American….she is very excited—definitely one of her number one schools.
My daughter got TE at Pitzer! She is so happy (and so are we).
High - yes. 4.0 UW, Rigrorous curriculum
SAT 1440-very good but not 1500’s
I work in HR at a TE school and we don’t make the decisions. Admissions does. TE applicants apply to the University, and the TE notification come through our office. We let Admissions know who the TE applications are, and they make the decisions. We have no influence on the admission and/or TE decision.
WOW. This is such helpful information. Thx
Son was just offered TE at Temple University. I was kind of surprised because their information states that they offer it to under 10%.
Update from us…previously offered TE at Merrimack (full tuition). Denied TE at U Del (admitted + honors college) On 3/14 offered TE at RIT (set rate). On 3/18 offered TE Syracuse (set rate). I can confirm Syracuse will stack merit, as he was also awarded $10,000 merit there. We have not yet heard on TE from WPI. Have not received an admissions decision or TE decision from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Congratulations on Syracuse, RIT and Merrimack! Is the set rate typically $40K per year or does it vary quite a bit?
I am thrilled for everyone who is getting positive responses on the TE scholarships. I couldn’t imagine how this wait must be killing y’all. I was so happy when we were notified in December. It made things a lot less stressful for my daughter as well as my husband and I!
Is there a deadline in which all schools must notify their TE recipients in order for them to have time to make their college choices by the May 1st deadline?
With TE and 10k merit, is syracuse still pricy?
Congratulations! That’s on of my kids top choices. No email yet, fingers crossed!
Set rate goes up a tad each year and is $40k for the 22-23 academic year.
We are still waiting for TE from Syracuse. Daughter was given Leadership scholarship which is half tuition. The financial aid office did confirm that all those TE applicants accepted would receive TE and as you said it is stackable. If that is the case, the she would get full tuition. Just wondering if your son was accepted on 3/18 or earlier? My daughter was accepted on 3/16. Thanks.
