Is it possible that the tuition and fees for next year have not yet been published? Or, is this just another “hole” in the AU website. A search for “tuition and fees” turns up this link [Tuition and Fees 2012-2013](http://www.american.edu/finance/studentaccounts/Tuition-and-Fees-2012-2013.cfm) but no information about the coming year. I read and hear wonderful things about this university but so far, as a parent of a newly admitted freshman I am less than impressed with their communication.

In the acceptance packet, there is a page about your estimated financial aid. In the first paragraph, mine says “The award is based upon your estimated cost of attendance of $56808 which includes tuition, fees and allowances for room, board, books, transportation, and personal expenses.”
Unfortunately, I haven’t found it broken down, which would be helpful.

So the website has a detailed description of “e-suds”, their high tech answer to the question: “is there a dryer free” but no information about next year’s tuition?

As a student myself, I understand your frustration with AU. However, once I actually got to the school and settled down, it seemed like everything made sense. My advice: Don’t rely on this forum for all your information. I called the school to get my questions answered whenever I had one.

I remember the breakdown of tuition and all costs on the myAU Portal under Financial Aid Award Letter. You might want to check that. Otherwise, current students check their financial aid, breakdown, and how much they have to pay by a certain date under Eagle Finance. Check if your D has access to that as well. If not, my best advice is that you call the school. Tuition is something like $19,500 alone FYI.

I would be very interested in a breakdown of the fees and tuition for 2013-2014. Now that the letters have been sent it should be easily accessible. It seems odd that calling the school would be needed for such basic information.
