Are there any vendors of tuition insurance left for individual retail customers.

D1's school doesn't offer Dewar, and it appears that GradGuard and TuitionGuardian are no longer available for individuals, only through schools.

I just got a brochure from S’s school for tuition insurance. So I am guessing people do take advantage of this?

Sorry, I know I didn’t address your initial question - I was coming on here to ask about tuition insurance and saw your post.

ClassicRockerDad, I also have this question. If you ever find one, please post a follow-up.

Our kids private HS and U both offered Dewars. Declined it nearly every year, including the year D had a lot of problems and COULD have made a claim. Never made a claim nor heard of other insurers. Would ask bursers or cashiers office at the U of they know of any available tuition insurance.

Looks like salliemae offers tuition insurance.

<a href=“Sallie Mae | Education Loans, College Planning & Online Banking”>Sallie Mae | Education Loans, College Planning & Online Banking;

That SallieMae one is what’s left of GradGuard, which is now limited to $5K per semester or $10K annual. Not all that useful when tuition is in the high 40s.

Like you, I am still looking.

Have you looked into: [College Parents of America | A national membership association serving current and future college parents](http://www.collegeparents.org) ?

It looks like they use GradGuard as the underwriter.

If I find out more, I will post an update.

“College Parents of America” offers automatic $5000 ($2500 per semester) with membership using “GradGuard Tuition Insurance”. When I called they indicated that if you take a SallieMae loan (minimum $1000) you get $5000 ($2500 per semester) tuition insurance. However, they (GradGuard) (I believe I was transferred to a GradGuard Tuition Insurance salesman when I called) will sell you additional insurance up to $50-55K. He did confirm that GradGuard does not sell policies directly.

If you follow up on this, please post and confirm.
