As a transfer students who was recently admitted to Stony, I wonder when should I sent in these deposits? On the portal it says the deadline is at least one month before the notification of my acceptance, namely May 1. But this nonetheless conflicts with the decision process with other institutions, which do not sent their decision letters out by mid May. If anyone have knowledge on this matter, and would like to share, I would greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the slow response – May 1 is a soft deadline for transfers. We’ll probably keep things open for a few weeks after that.

Thanks, Chris, for the feedback; I have already sent in both my tuition and housing deposit, and was recently given a rough estimate of my fall 2014-2015 tuition. However, judging on what is given to me on the portal, I still need to pay a bulk out-of-pocket expense. So I was wondering if Stony Brook is offering Phi Theta Kappa scholarships for transfer students?

Scholarships can be found here. http://www.stonybrook.edu/finaid/programs/undergradscholarships.shtml Not sure on specifics, but there’s a bunch you can look through and they’re categorized.

But no, we don’t offer specific scholarships for incoming PTK students.
