Tuition Payments

The yearly tuition is what. Some 40,000+ ? How is everyone planning to pay this. Also, is anybody doing the ROTC program?

As far as I know, you need to cross register at University of Connecticut (I believe) to take the ROTC classes (at least, I think that's the case for AFROTC, I don't know about the others). I was about thisclose to accepting my appointment from the Air Force Academy, so I didn't apply for any ROTC scholarships (I thought I'd be doing all or nothing). It's something I might actually do at the end of my freshman year though (I figured I'd wait a year and see if my desire to serve was still apparent). Are you doing ROTC? I figured that waiting to graduate (and maybe going to graduate school first) and then doing OTS might also be an option.

In terms of paying... my parents are paying some, but we'll be taking out student loans for the rest. Sigh, debt for years and years, here I come.

I'm probably going to do Army ROTC. I was also planning to go to a Service Academy; West Point. But then i decided I could do the same thing practically and still be free to do what i want. I was also thinking about OTS. I was also wondering whether they will pay for Graduate school; because if they do, I might do Reserves during Law School, if they pay, and then go on full-time duty as a JAG officer for the other 4 years.

I just noticed you're in San Diego... I'm about an hour north. Maybe hit me up with an IM sometime? Either way it's nice to know there is somebody else who had to make the same choice I had to.

About ROTC/OTS however, I'm not quite sure what exactly each pays for. I haven't researched either nearly enough to know. I will definately talk to some people at Yale about it once I get there, though. Actually, do you know Navgirl (I think that's her handle) from this board? She turned down USNA for Harvard, and I think wanted to be a JAG officer too.

In any case, ROTC is just something we'll have to prod about once we get there, since it's not exactly a very popular program... ;)

well. My AIM doesn't work right now. I might get it fixed soon. I don't know. But, if you're thinking about ROTC at all. I suggest you go to a recruiter and get all the information you have; they will be very enthusiastic about it and give you all the information they have.
