Ok how does it work if almost all my scholarships are second semester?? I am like a thousand short for the first semester, which I will pay out of savings. But then second semester I am like 3 or 4 thousand over. Will they send me a check or just leave a surplus on my account. The money is from like 7 small private scholarships.

Call your college’s financial office to ask. Most likely, your college-provided grant will be reduced, since your calculated need is being met by outside sources.

There’s a maximum amount that you can be awarded in financial aid but if you get less than that and still have money left over yeah, they’ll just cut you a check. I got over 6k one year that way.
