If you enroll in TRIP, you can choose to pay per quarter or by academic year.

You can find everything in the Finance tab under the big "Current Students" tab in TritonLink.

So if we choose TRIP and choose the whole academic year option it means you pay the whole year tution BEFORE OR AFTER the year begins/ends?

how do you enroll in TRIP? does paying quarterly also mean you might have to pay slightly more cus they are letting you pay in 3 times (which is easier for financially burdened ppl)? as opposed to if you pay all at once.

when i pressed the e-check payment thing, it says I need to apy $10,000. Is this for the whole year or quarter or what? im confused!

$10,000!!!!!!!! For WHAT?!?!?!!?

bumpppppp..............

:x Paid my quarter dues yesterday, and OUCH, it hurt to see $5k+ go out like that.

Undergrads are basically cash milkcows for graduate research.

CoolAdu, the 10k I'd imagine is the $7700 for Room and Board (you seemed to have chosen the annual plan) as well as the $2000 or so for the Quarterly Tuition fees, and the $300 or so for SHIP. Something like that would be the breakdown.

where do we pay our housing fees? and how do we look them up ? .... i can't find anything on the tritonlink junk....

You guys are crazy for whining. In state tuition for ANY UC (but especially for UCSD, one of the better UCs) is one of the best bargains in education in the world. Would you feel better shelling out $35,000 at a private institution rated #200 on the US News list?

^^Says who?

Most European universities charge NO tuition. Their public servant schools like engineering schools, or teaching schools actually have a salary for the students, look up Ecole Polytechnique, or Ecole Normale Superieure.

A lot of Asian universities also charge no tuition.

Yea, I was surprised to hear the tuition amount for schools in Korea! Seoul National University (top school in that country!) students pay only ~$7k a year, or so!

But then again, mostly everyone in Korea wants to go to the US to study, or for after their studies. Including Seoul National University students. Including their veterinary students.

Not for long though. Europe is gaining on the U.S. very rapidly as far as education goes, so is Asia.

we shouldnt debate over the cost of tutition..... cal grant and ucsd grant in aid basically covers most of it......and it's not like the majority of UCSD students are low income...

knowing that the deadline to pay for fees is 9/29 ....... the real question is.......HOW do we pay for the tutition ? WHERE on tritonlink do we look up how much we own them in fees before they start overcharging us with late fees and stuff like that ? It seems like there is nowhere on the tritonpage that tells you the amount of tution fee you must pay...

thanks....

First of all, WE don't pay much more than $7,000 a year tuition. Also, of course Europe has cheaper or free universities: citizens pay between twice and four times as much in taxes.

Well, lucky you, speed graphic, cause I'm paying all damn $23k a year for my UC education.

To pay your tuition bill:
b** https://www-act.ucsd.edu/studentEBill/StudentBilling
b** Click on View or Pay Bill, and log-in with your PID/PAC.
b** Scroll down to PAYMENT OPTIONS WITH "E-check"/b
b You can choose to pay your last statement or your current balance.
As for now, your last statement and your current balance should be the same because the September bill came not too long ago.
b** Once you click on Pay Current Balance, you will be taken to a pop-up window about e-check payments.
For this, be sure you have your (1) Bank Number, (2) Routing Number, and (3) your name and billing address. ;)
All this information is available on a check so you can just rip one off your parents' (or your) checkbook.
b** Enter in the appropriate information, with the appropriate amount of money, and happy birthday, you just bled a few thousand dollars from your bank.

Damn, this needs to be stickied or on the first page or something. :D Kidding.

Then you must be out of state. Go to a school in your state, it'd be cheap too. The reason it's so cheap for us is because I live and work here and pay taxes, as do my parents, and will continue to live and work and pay taxes after I graduate.

I've lived in California all 17 years of my life. In fact, I've lived in Orange County for all 17 years of my life.
If I was an out of stater, I'd have to pay $4Xk+.

However, not everyone in California can receive financial aid, whether from UCSD or Cal Grant or anything. My parents' income is apparently "over the ceiling" for financial aid (doesn't say a word about how "wealthy" we are cause we're not. at all.) and shh shh, but all my work is under the table tutoring, so I'm not exactly paying taxes. But then again, I'm not making a lot of money.

the welfare system in the U.S. is very unfair, it awards laziness and financial irresponsibility.
