Hey everyone!
I know this is a really general question, but I was just wondering if there were any current or former Tulane students/alumni who could speak about general class sizes at Tulane. I know that premed prerequisites like bio and chem will be big, but do students get to know there professors well? I really thrive in small classes and I am just debating whether Tulane is the right size for me or not. Thanks for your input!!
Tulane mom - since no one has responded - I’ll provide my limited knowledge. My son is a freshman. I have heard that the larger classes are the freshman pre-med courses - probably 100 students or more. My son is studying liberal arts. His courses have been relatively small - 15 to 40 students. He had a lot of AP credits and skipped many of the freshman level courses. I understand the first two Econ courses are largish. He has two Econ courses with the same professor this term and has mentioned that he would be speaking to this professor to be his major advisor. A post on the Tulane admissions blog - encourages students to get to know their professors; and having to find a major advisor makes getting to know your professors mandatory, from my prospective.
@callmom Thank you so much for the insight! That is awesome that most of his classes are 15 to 40 students now.
