White, female, middle class, from mid-west private school.
I was expecting to be deferred to EDII because I am from a private school and they would suspect I would be willing to commit to full price or close to full. I think my Why Tulane and Common App essays were very strong and gave me a leg up. I am honestly still shocked and extremely happy!
That is so good! Funny you should mention that, our private school had 2 EA admits from candidates that would have absolutely been deferred from our public. Note I have one student in each.
Just called Tulane’s office and asked about DHS and PT scholarship decisions and was told that they should be coming out in the coming week! Also, if you were deferred and applied to these scholarships, you can still get them, so don’t lose hope!!
Two questions: one, does anyone know when the DHS / PTA are coming out? Second, does Tulane generally release their RD’d earlier than the date they provided like they did for ED/EA??
I would assume online, possibly as another status update. I applied to PT and haven’t gotten any emails about where/when it will be released so really no idea.
Did anyone get an email invitation for BienvenueTU? Below is from the email, and it sounds like related to scholarship.
You’re invited to interview for BienvenueTU! These interviews are available to admitted students by invitation only and will help us to award scholarships to students who participate. Register to interview here . You have until March 12 to interview.
My S20 went to BienvenueTU in March 2020 and was offered an extra 10K per year scholarship on top of his initial FA package which had 31K per year in scholarships. Good luck to you during your interview.
Did you happen to check the box on your admissions application that you are applying for financial aid (and submit the financial aid forms)? I think it might be an additional way to provide aid to deserving students.
hopping on to say I am full pay and didn’t apply for fin aid at all and received the same invitation. However, I did write my common app about a unique struggle I faced that related to my cultural background, so idk if that played in at all. I am a little worried that this means I was denied from the bigger scholarships though.
