Tulane EA 2025 Decisions

Congratulations!! Where are you from if you don’t me asking?

I was wondering if anyone could provide any advice in my situation. When I received a decision I was offered 20k in merit aid and now I’ve just gotten my need based aid and it looks like I’ll be able to attend Tulane and only pay half of room and board. I’ve also been invited to interview for BienvenueTU which from my understanding is another opportunity for more scholarships. Given that if I attend tulane I’m looking at almost a full ride would it be worth it to interview. I don’t mind interviews but it seems like a waste of time because it’s already extremely cheap.

When are we expecting RD to start being released?

I got an email from our financial aid advisor today answering my question about the PT merit bump not yet showing in Gibson in our financial aid offer. She said it would show up in the next several days but wanted to be clear that then the need based Tulane Award will decreased by the same amount so the net would stay the same. She said any additional merit decreases need based awards. So that makes it sound like if you got any additional merit money they would take away the same amount from your need based offer and the overall package out of pocket won’t change. She went on to say that the merit is good because that amount is locked in for four years provided a 2.7 GPA, but that the Tulane award can fluctuate yearly based on calculated need.

I have a friend that applied RD and was recently accepted so I’m assuming its rolling admissions

My S20 went through quite a few interviews last spring so I don’t remember the exact questions that were asked from Tulane, but most of his interview questions revolved around a couple of themes. What would he bring to School “A” and what could School “A” do to help him reach his goals? He also received questions around his background and “Why school A” like you noted. My son prepared by just rereading his Tulane essays, and just thinking over what he was looking for out of Tulane as he was also interviewing every school that he had the chance to talk to. Good Luck to you.

I will share what happened to my S20 last year because there was one surprise with his Tulane FA. He applied to Tulane EA and was initially accepted with a 25K merit scholarship. He also received about 32K in need based aid at some point early in the process. In early February 2020, he was notified that he did not get PT or DHS, but they upped his merit scholarship by 6K which ended up immediately lowering his need based aid by 6K. He went to BienvenueTU in March 2020 with the offer of more scholarship money (up to 15K) tied to an interview and he received an additional 10K scholarship (Tulane Donors Award). But with the Tulane Donors Award, they did not subtract from his need based aid (I was shocked) which lowered Tulane below our EFC costs and made it cheaper than our state flagships. My S20 ended up choosing a different university, but Tulane gave him a very generous overall FA package.

Do most students get merit aid? Does anyone know the statistics? My child was accepted EA, but didn’t receive any merit award.

So does RD not find out on April 1st?? or is it all on a rolling admission?

RD should be rolling admission. My friend applied RD and was recently accepted. I’m guessing you should hear on or before April 1st

When you go on these threads it certainly feels like most students get merit but my daughter was also accepted EA without any merit offer. A huge bummer for us.

Same here. I am feeling a bit sad hearing about all this merit aid…

Does anyone know around what time they upload decisions if it’s rolling? Since no other schools come out until March / April, I’ve been obsessively checking my portal so I’d rather have a time to check

My D has already received two different emails this week that her financial aid award has been revised but so far it looks just like it did a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else?

Same here…I’m sure it’ll be updated soon, but yes, my daughter has received a message each morning with no change yet.

Same here as well. Two emails, no changes (expecting merit to go up and need to go down, per email).

Tulane famously rejects very high stat students because they assume they are being used as a safety school. They also make no apologies for how they game the numbers. It’s not about compensating for lower stats, it’s about wanting to be showered with love by students.

Students can and do play that game. I’ll pass, thank you.

Tulane willingly accepts the high students who demonstrate interest. There are plenty there, and more apply and are accepted every year. And they they don’t reject, but defer high stat students who have not demonstrated sufficient interest to convince Tulane that they would be interested in attending if accepted. That deferral provides the student the opportunity to continue with the application process if they wish and express their interest.

Just like any business, it’s about supply and demand. And these days Tulane has far more qualified high stat applicants than it needs. That’s a good place to be.
