my son decided to apply to Tulane about 7 weeks ago. He was excited and rushed through his application. He wrote his essay and e-mailed the application to a Tulane admissions representative without anyone reviewing his essay. Although he did a fairly good job, it could have been worded better. He is regretting being in such a hurry. Is it possible to rewrite the essay and send in a new one? the information would be essentially the same.

There is no definitive answer on this, but I would say if he has an essay he likes better, to go ahead and send it to his admissions counselor. I can’t see that it hurts to want to put your best effort in front of them, even if it comes a little later. It is still before the deadline.

I’m surprised your son hasn’t heard back yet if he applied 7 weeks ago. That was before the EA deadline.

She didn’t say he applied EA. He might have applied RD.

he applied RD

Oh sorry I just assumed it would be EA if it was before the EA deadline :P.

LOL i wouldn’t worry too much about the essay unless your stats are sub-par for tulane.

i did my whole tulane app in like 15 minutes. i tried to copy and paste an essay from the common app, but it was too long. i had to cut out a paragraph or two and then just stuck it on the page. things are looking different this year, but for last year i don’t think the essay was heavily weighted.

thank you all,
my son decided to do another essay and send it to admissions and ask them to replace the original essay with the updated one.
