So… I am looking at potentially major in Finance at Tulane along with being pre-med (which is really my main goal). I might double major in a science as well, assuming that that is possible. I want to be a doctor that can also understand business and money management, because I feel like that is an important part of the job. Is this possible, or will this be a ridiculous amount of schoolwork? I am not afraid of a challenge at all. I will put in the work.
@dunnowheretogo A lot of Tulane students double major and I know several who are premed and either double major with the business school or have a major and minor. Tulane’s undergrad curriculum allows easy transferability with students taking courses in each of its undergrad schools—business, science & engineering, liberal arts, etc…) even if they are not in that particular major/ school). Unlike at Michigan, for example, where if you are in LS&A and not in the Ross school of business, you cannot be a business major or minor. I know several Tulane students who have premed majors and minor in business through the Freeman business school program called SLAMM —https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/programs/slamm
Also Tulane’s Freeman business school offers students of any major to enroll in a business minor summer institute program where they can fulfill the requirements of a business minor in ten weeks by taking 23.5 credits. This is good because it frees up time and space during the fall and winter semesters to take other courses (allowing you to be able to do a double major or minor). @trackmbe3 thank you so much that program sounds awesome — I’ll definitely check it out
