FYI for all. My son was too late to apply ED2 at Tulane, so had to apply RD despite knowing Tulaneās very low RD acceptance rate. At the same time he was deferred EA at University of Miami which then gave him the opportunity to apply ED2. His stats are pretty good, 3.6 GPA 32 ACT, but not stellar. So he went ED2 at Miami and was accepted and then withdrew his RD application to Tulane. Before he changed his Miami application to ED2, he emailed his admission counselor at Tulane to gauge his competitiveness for RD and he replied that given the small number of slots left the competition will be fierce, so he went ED2 at Miami. So yes, for future applicants to Tulane, make up your mind early and apply ED or at least ED2. RD is just not a realistic option for most people.
ur so right!! tulane takes most of their class from EA/ED/ED2 so theres such limited spots for the RD round, for me I applied EA and got deferred
also there are a lot of REA people who apply to tulane RD as a safety bc they cant apply EA without realizing that tulane RD makes it no longer a safety lol
Yep. Someone would have to have some amazing stats to have Tulane as a safety, but I guess there are a few out there.
Has it historically come out on the 30th or the last Monday of March? (I was looking at the date for class of 2024)
I just got an email saying that I didnt get this specific scholarship but it says I can still get aid through scholarships and financial aid, does anyone know if this is an indicator of if I got in or not? or do you think they just tell everyone the same thing idk
When are decisions ?
By April 1
Trust meā¦ if āmaking up my mind earlyā was possible I wouldāve chose that optionš
No news on decisions?
march 31 3pm CST!
Has this been confirmed?
It was posted on Tulane admissionās facebook
Thanks!
CAn you guys please cahnce me. I freaking out.
Iām an international student studying the A-Level curriculum.
ā I have a 4.0/4.0 UW GPA
ā I come #35 out of 950 (maybe 1200 students- not too sure due to recent expansion) students at my high school
ā SAT got a 1360. (noot submitted)
ā Predicted 3A* at A-Level (Mathematics, Econ, Business)
ā Wasnāt allowed to partake in extracurriculars due to some reasons but tried my best to pursue those things which Iām interested in. I know they are extremely unorthodox and probably have no weightage in the eyes of the admissions officers.
Started my own Charity (Unofficial- Doesnāt have a name and isnāt registered yet)
Became a self-taught forex and stocks trader and also teach trading- to help my father financially and to pay for the charity.
took care of my grandparents on a regular basis.
tutored my younger cousin
was the captain of 3 business competitions
Am an unofficial fitness trainer and nutritionist
Am a micro Instagram influencer- make my own content/earn some money too.
Miscellaneous activities/hobbies- participated in a couple of badminton tournaments at my club, frequently paint/draw, etc
ā I also faced certain extenuating circumstances because of which I got mediocre O-Level results and because of which I was also not allowed to participate in ECAs.
ā financial aid needed
Iāve been rejected from all my US unis so Iām not expecting anything good. Surprisingly even my safties rejected me.
you have a great profile but Tulane is extremely difficult to be accepted to RD even for domestic students.
could someone chance me as well? after being deferred EA iāve kind of given up hope lol
status: deferred, OOS
GPA: 3.46 UW(school doesnāt weight), 3 honors 2 AP (had undiagnosed learning disorders until end of junior year and gpa is now 3.55)
Good amount of community service, okay ECs, and have been working as a waitress ~12 hours a week since sophomore year
Showed a TON of interest, interview, why tulane, paul tulane (didnāt get), texted w tour guide and name dropped her, and emailed w counselor
Sent a LOCI after being deferred
A little confused on why I wasnāt accepted, i know it is never predictable but i did think i showed enough demonstrated interest that they knew it was my top and I would go.
This year is so unpredictable for college admissions. Your demonstrated interest looks good.
Did you communicate the learning disorders to Tulane? Did you submit test scores?
The only thing that I could see holding you back is course rigor (depends on context of your high school) and your GPA, both of which could be explained by the circumstances you have listed.
Iām sorry that I canāt give you a definite answer. Itās just so unpredictable.
I hope we both get accepted on Wednesday. Best of luck!
thank you and you too!!
I wrote about my disabilities in my essay and I believe my counselor included it in his recommendation as well, I did not submit test scores bc I had a 1350 superscored and my Tulane counselor told me not to send in scores unless i had ~ 1400+. I have taken honors english (no AP offered), and struggled through honors chem. I took AP bio, got a 4 on the AP test, and am now in AP gov. not too intense, however I have been showing interest since mid-junior year and am just sad about how it turned out. holding out luck, but wish things had turned out differently haha
Our college admissions journeys sound very similar, though there are differences in the hardships we have faced. I was hoping for better results in this process as well, but here we are. Iām sorry that it has not gone how you would have liked. In the context of your high school, the APās you took look fine. Again, best if luck!
