Tulane Class of 2023

Tulane was after our first daughter but she chose film school. Now our youngest daughter, who loves New Orleans, has applied. She is a terrific student. But probably has about a 1/3 chance of getting in if you go by the stats. Kids gotta dream though. She applied Via the Common APP Early Action on 10/3 and all the materials were in on 10/10. I will give credit where it is due. Ive been through my share of College Recruitment and Choices Seasons with our Daughters, but Tulane’s LIVE CHATS they have with Current students are top notch.

My daughter appied Early Action too…I’m guessing we should be hearing something in the next couple of weeks…!!!

Early Action applications will find out around January 15th.

Yep Jan 15th. Thats the Date they tell you!

My bad…I was confusing deadline date with decision date!!! This college journey is uncharted waters for us!!!

@alipel Dont worry about it. This is our last, and just when you get good at it, you have no kids left to show what you can really do. You will do better as you go along.

Here is some info from last years thread, not sure if the same will apply to this year.

"We’ve changed things up a bit this year, in previous years we’ve released our EA and ED decisions on a more rolling (and sometimes random) basis. This year, we’re completely shifting to a single release date for both EA and ED. ED letters will leave the Office of Admission on November 27th. EA letters will head out on December 17th. Green Wave portals will be updated a few days after letters are mailed out. No need to keep checking the mailbox or portal until then. Hopefully, knowing exactly when you’ll hear back will reduce anxiety a little bit. " - Tulane Director of Admission

The Tulane website states the following:

“We release admission decisions as they become available, up to the notification deadline for each application period (December 15th for Early Decision applicants, January 15th for Early Action applicants, and April 1st for Regular Decision applicants). It is important to remember that this means some students will receive their admission decision at different times than others. Therefore, the order in which applicants receive their admission decision is not reflective of the decision itself. Applicants should not assume they have been admitted or denied if they know of someone else that has received a decision before them.”

I contacted admissions about this; Jeff’s Blog from last year is inconsistent with what is on the Admissions web page.

This is the response:

All decisions will be posted at the same time, sometime before the guaranteed 1/15 notification deadline. When we know the date, Jeff should put out a blog similar to last year.

Does anyone know if notification is by mail or if it’s communicated via the Green Wave portal for the application decision?

Posted on Tulane University Admission Facebook page today…

Edited for formatting

When I found out in 2016, I was just casually checking the portal. I believe decisions come out on the portal first at many universities and students receive physical acceptances a short time later.

momzilla2d interesting!

@201five I know, right? They got those EDs out FAST!!
My D applied EA (just submitted today), so I’m hoping the EA decisions will also be early. I imagine there are a lot more EAs than EDs, though, at most schools.

Wow - super early about the 19th - very exciting! Sorry to ask again but does that mean Admissions will mail the letters on the 19th and then update the portal at a later date? Or is that when news is available on the portal? Does anyone know? Thanks!

They didn’t specify. Normally they mail letters first and post on the portal 2-3 days later. Whichever happens first for you

It says released at 4pm on 11/19 so obviously would be on the portals then.

Has anyone heard anything about EA decisions?

@mmd1073 According to another thread on CC the EA decisions went out December 18 last year.

Does anyone have a guess as to why they are releasing the ED decisions so early? Also, Jeff’s blog was about Spring Scholars - January admits. Looks like there will be about a 100 this year. January admit is certainly better than a no.
