Tulane Transfer

Has anyone who has applied for transfer for Fall '09 heard back yet? My application status is currently, "The Committee on Admission is working to render your decision as quickly as possible."

I don’t know about Tulane, but many schools make their decisions in June (once Spring Semester grades are available?).

Tulane has the option of early notification if you applied by Feb 1st. I was wondering if anyone who applied around that time has heard back yet.

i got last week but i haven’t gotten anything in the mail yet. not going to accept =)

I applied at the beginning of March and was told it should take about 4 weeks by my transfer admission counselor but nothing yet. Can’t believe you haven’t heard yet though…

Today I emailed them and asked when they thought I might hear back. They told me I “should receive a decision within the next couple weeks.” Very vague.

The not knowing is KILLING me!! I am already a less than patient person but this is really pushing me above and beyond…lol If I had applied as early as you had I would be freaking out. One of the other threads mentions that they have already started admitting from the waitlist.

Wow. I just read the waitlist thread. I hope I will be finding out soon if they are already pulling from their waitlist.
Sassy2u where else are you waiting to hear back from?

I think you should contact the transfer admission counselor and perhaps she could find out what is taking your app so long to process. Her name is Kasey Bruns. And I know this is insane but I haven’t applied anywhere else. Tulane is the only school I want to go to. If it does not happen I will apply for admission elsewhere for the spring. That would be after many months of depression.

I got rejected. Good luck to all those who are still waiting.

Sorry to hear that siege. Best of luck to you.

I am sorry to hear that. I am still waiting. Anyone else out there still waiting for an answer regarding transfer to Tulane?? The suspense is almost unbearable…

hi, i saw this and thought i’d share my story.
i was also rejected from tulane. SHOCKINGLY, i was accepted to the university of virginia, vanderbilt, northeastern, boston university, and emory. nothing about this makes any sense at all to me. tulane was the only school i wanted, and continue to want. i must believe it happened for a reason, and the positive is i will go to a higher ranked academic school. however, tulane will remain the only place i truly want to be.

-if this helps anyone who is still waiting, here is my profile
-freshman in college -3d tier, but in northeast.
-6 classes a semester, and 18 credits a semester, with 5A’s and a 1B+ first semester. 6A’s second
-tutor calculous to the athletes tuesdays and thursdays

  • spent a summer volunteering with children with metal disabilities
-and i am the daughter of an alum

oh and i’m a full pay, not asking for a penny.

NO IDEA WHAT THEY WANT IN THIER TRANSFER, but honestly best of luck to you. it is an INCREDIBLE school. and i am truly in love with it. it breaks my heart :(

*********calculus

That is really disheartening to hear anna. I completely understand what you mean though. Tulane is the only school that I am interested in as well. I have not applied anywhere else. If Tulane does not accept me I will be heading to India for a volunteer trip and apply for spring to other locations. I was wondering when did you apply? Not that I know much about this but there is another person that remarked on another post about being rejected and then placed on waitlist.

I’m not sure if this will make anyone feel better of worse, but during our recent visit, I was reading in the student newspaper that they are having issues with housing for next year’s sophomores, as the class is very large. The size of the class may be affecting their ability/need to accept transfer students.

i applied in late december, right as first semester grades closed. they left me hanging for a long time, so i was also able to send in second semester grades. i wouldnt lose all hope; if you still havent heard that’s a good sign. they work from the bottom of the list up, eliminating as they go…the longer you go without a letter, the better a chance you have. if you dont get it, you can always re-apply after you volunteer. it is hard for me, b.c it truly is the only place i want to be, but i will not re-apply next year…i feel it would be foolish to transfer from vanderbilt to tulane. you know? do you know how long it took that person to go from rejected to the waitlist?

I think Septmbr nailed it though. Tulane is having an unusually high retention rate (great for the school, lousy for anyone that wants to transfer in) and that is why you were accepted by those other schools but not Tulane. It has nothing to do with you as a student, just the sheer weight of the logistics they are facing. Not to sound flippant, but your timing was just unfortunate.

So I got rejected today and I have to say I am pretty shocked. I have a 4.0 gpa and that is unweighted. I have taken honors classes and I am not sure what it would be weighted. I have 71 college credits with an A in every single class. And every one is a hard class; no easy A electives!! Not even waitlisted???!!! Or deferred. This is ridiculous.

Sassy - I am very sorry that happened to you. I have to believe there just wasn’t any space this year, there would seem to be no other rational explanation from what you have said. Best of luck to you.

Ok adding this on a minute later. Have you looked into University College yet (evening school)? I don’t know much about it, but maybe that is an alternative so you can get to know the faculty and staff and see what opens up. Just a thought.
