Answers out by December 5th got an email today.
For just ED or for EA and ED as well? I thought EA come out a bit later?
Is that a fixed date for ED decisions?
This is for Early Decision and the email said decisions would be out âby December 5thâ so I suppose likely Tuesday but maybe Monday if they are done- thatâs a guess.
Can you share a copy of that email?
Just ED also says that in the admission blog site.
Hoping it might come this week.
When does EA historically release?
Last year EA was released on Dec. 20
THANK YOU! This is so good to know!! We attended a campus preview day and the AO said EA would be released Jan 10th. I would LOVE to have this answer in December so we can more fully consider ED2 options!!
Two years ago it was also 12/20
I would be surprised if it was as late as 1/10 since the deadline to apply for ED2 is 1/15. Historically Tulane (and other schools with ED/ED2) defer a good number of kids for EA to RD and will send a note asking if they want to switch their deferral to an application into ED2. A 1/10 date doesnât give much time for that process.
@Mashinations you are right that if EA decisions come out 1/10 doesnât give much time. Even more importantly to me, an EA decision that late also effectively eliminates most other schools as ED2 options since most schools have an ED2 deadline of Jan 1 or Jan 5. If an EA option comes out before Jan 1, then we can consider not only whether to switch to ED2 at Tulane (if deferred) but also alternatively whether to choose ED2 at another school.
With November coming to a close, we are nearing the release date for our first admission round: Early Decision. We will have decisions for ED applicants no later than December 8th , but we will update you via email and on social if we are able to release sooner! We are finishing up committee over the next few days and are excited to welcome the first members of our Class of 2028.
Just updated on Tulane admissions blog. A few more days to waitâŠâŠ
A January 10th EA release is much later than in the few years past.
If they truly wait until after the new year then I hope the rumblings are accurate that they are moving towards taking more students in the EA and RD rounds vs years past and not simply taking that large % from those that apply ED. We shall wait and see.
Found the amount of effort and detail placed on the âspring semester acceptance optionâ of the latest blog post interesting. Makes me wonder if they will utilize this non-binding option more during this cycle for ED applicants that they otherwise would have accepted as Fall admits. Ofc they did explicitly say that there is no chance to turn a spring admit into a fall admit. Props for the transparency there.
December is looking to be a very looooong month for those of us awaiting decisions.
Time will tell but personally I would expect that transition to take place over several admission cycles than a dramatic shift over 1-2 years. Not sure when they post common data sets for the previous cycle but we havenât seen the one for the '23-'24 freshman class yet to know what - if any - change was made last year.
hoping to see more than 100 get in RD this cycle
From an email sent to current students re: last yearâs admissions cycle for Class of 2027
Overall, fewer than 800 first-year applicants were offered admission via Early Decision and fewer than 400 via Early Decision II, while nearly 2,400 were offered admission via Early Action and over 400 via Regular Decision. This means Tulane extended roughly 400 additional non-binding offers of admission this year compared to the 2021-2022 admissions cycle. Roughly 250 additional students were admitted for Spring 2024 with the opportunity to spend their first semester in Barcelona, London, Paris, or Rome.
"To save room for more first-generation college students and students who do not feel comfortable making a binding commitment so early, we reduced our Early Decision offers of admission this year and increased Early Action and Regular Decision offers.â shared Shawn Abbott, Tulaneâs Vice President for Enrollment Management and Dean of Admission @mashinations
Yes, Iâm familiar with the press release. S23 was one of the 400 (originally deferred EA to RD) and is there now. Not suggesting they would lie in the press release but Iâll wait for the CDS to see what actual numbers were.
The numbers above donât represent a marked difference from the year before. Further up this thread I posed the Common App numbers from the last few years. They accepted 1,258 from ED (which would include both rounds) for the prior cycle. Their acceptances last year of âfewer than 1,200â I would not characterize as a substantial shift. When the EA/RD rounds have a 25% admittance rate for every ED person they donât accept they can accept an incremental ~4 through EA/RD which is what appears to have happened.
Iâm not critical of Tulaneâs admission process one way or the other. They should set whatever policies they feel best suit them. I am critical of press releases that overstates a change - which I feel that one did.
Sorry. I just realized you had already posted that data.
