Tulane university new student book?

I just received an email requesting my photo to be submitted for tthe NEW STUDENT BOOK
what exactly is this and how much will it cost? does this get published every year ?

It’s like a freshman directory, with info about all the students in the incoming class. My son didn’t do it, felt with social media it’s not necessary. I’m not sure of the cost.

Does seem like a dated concept, and not familiar with cost or anything.

It doesn’t cost anything to get your pic in the book. I don’t remember how much it was to buy the book. It’s the pre-computer version of Facebook!

I mean I get the concept of having a book with all the pics of new students and a little bio info about them, presumably. But with about 1700 new students in a class, I am not sure how you would find a face you saw but couldn’t remember the name, and if you remember the name I am not sure what good the book is. But perhaps I am missing something. I assume they still do yearbooks every year? It was called the Jambalaya.

I was a freshman this past year. To my knowledge, no one had this book. Generally, its more or less easy to find someone you met as you’ll have mutual connections and while the class size is pretty big, I promise you’ll probably walk by them on the way to class at some point if you really experience a missed connection

I agree, @emma996. Tulane’s class size is similar to many of the private schools that are similar in character to it. Which means it is large enough to provide tons of variety, but small enough that you do see a lot of familiar faces every day. Plus the Tulane campus is on the smallish side compared to most, which enhances the odds of seeing people you know all the time.
