Tulane vs. Pitt vs. Northeastern

With exactly one month to decide where I'm going, I'm down to Northeastern, Pitt, and Tulane. I honestly don't know how to pick one over the other so I would really appreciate any information!! A little about me:

I'm an undecided major so it's important that wherever I go be accommodating and helpful.

I am from Ohio and since I'm definitely going out of state, state-wide diversity is preferred (not super excited about Pitt's 70% from Pennsylvania).

I have a pretty Midwestern attitude – relaxed about clothing and appearance, very go with the flow (I'm not too keen on Tulane and Northeastern's east coast majority).

I'm not a huge partier. Partying (in moderation) does not bother me, and I plan on attending many parties in my college career; but I also want to spend time in the city, go to events on campus, and hang out in my dorm and watch movies! I really want to be at a school where the social life is diverse (as described) and not constant parties with majority of students getting drunk all the time.

I don't play sports, but I love watching them so I want to go to a school where people love their sports teams and have immense school spirit!!

I don't plan on going Greek, so good Greek/Non-Greek relations are very important to me.

Any information on any of these topics (or others) would be very helpful!! Thanks!!!

I am just going to sum up my answer by saying you can everything you want as stated in your post with the possible exception of a student body that is enthusiastic about their sports teams. Some sports draw more support than others. That is not to say that there is no school spirit though, because that definitely does not seem to be the case.

I would also say that while there is a large Northeastern population at Tulane, it does not the majority of the student body.

Again, Tulane does not have an East Coast majority. Plurality perhaps, but only 1/3 from the “Northeast”, and since that includes anyone from any part of MA, PA or NY where people from outside Boston area, NYC area and Philly area are more like midwesterners than easterners, probably only about 20-25% are actually what you are thinking of when you say “east coast”, maybe less since it also includes states like VT, NH, ME, and WV. Tulane doesn’t break out the mid-Atlantic, but instead lumps it into the “Northeast”. Tulane is easily the most geographically diverse of those schools.

I cannot say how it compares to the others in switching majors and being easy to find a major, but I can say no place could be easier and more accommodating in that regard than Tulane. You do not have to be pre-admitted to any of the individual schools other than Architecture, and changing your major is as easy as a short form on a single sheet of paper.

I know we have discussed the party aspect in another thread. I can only promise that Tulane is no worse than Pitt. Not sure about Northeastern in this aspect. But any school is what you make of it, and there will be PLENTY of people at Tulane that want EXACTLY what you describe.

For the sports aspect, Pitt is the winner there. Things are getting better at Tulane for this, and the new stadium in Fall 2014 will be exciting, but Pitt is clearly the most sports oriented. But as kreativekat says, Tulane students are extremely proud to be Tulanians. Visitors are constantly commenting on how more Tulane students wear their school gear than any other school they visit.

I know we talked about the Greek thing as well. This really is not an issue at Tulane or Pitt, and again I don’t really know the situation at Northeastern. I think Pitt is less Greek than Tulane.
