Turing Class of 2026

should be full rejection. They hosted an online session for Turing last weekend. That should be the only session

Part of me is glad for my rejection so I did not take someone else’s spot when I decline my admissions later. The total lack of transparency by UT is one of the primary reasons I will skip UT.

good for you to have other options. UT is the best for us so far. will wait to see if he is admitted to other schools

My son got rejected also. We are happy UT’s wild ride is over. We will await other decisions and explore options beside UT.

Thank you all for your support, insight and camaraderie. For those who got what they were seeking Congratulations. For others, you will find an amazing school, given your caliber any T20 school will be fortunate to have you. Good luck all!

With the depth of involvment into coding your son has, I’m sure he’ll do good wherever he lands. Best of Luck for Caltech (I suppose it’s this Friday or Saturday), Stanford and MIT. Update on the admission results as you learn.

Thank you! Will do and best of luck to your daughter as well. She certainly has a bright future ahead of her!

Is it possible to successfully get into Turing in the first or second semester? Or is it a nearly impossible proposition? UT is still a top school for us because of the distance and in-state tuition. Not getting into Turing was a big disappointment for my S22. We are in the honors program in UVA currently and waiting on some of the ivys at this point. We are very glad the way UVA interacted with us so far and it gives the perception that they value us and they want us to join. UT might be too big to care. Still there are lots of advantage for us to go to UT but ability to get into Turing or Dean’s list is an aspect we are contemplating. I appreciate any advice!

UVA might value more of the OOS tuition. Just my 2 cents.

I can’t remember the exact details but I believe your S22 can express interest in taking honors classes and possibly get into some as non-Turing, then reapply to the program. I don’t know how many semesters are needed for reconsideration. My S22 is planning on requesting a meeting with the head of the Turing program to discuss any application feedback and next steps for reconsideration.

Thank you for your insights. We are thinking along the same lines if we end up in UT. We want to do an excellent job with the coursework and ask for reconsideration. Assuming seats are numerically still limited, I didn’t know the chance for success. I wonder if anyone has insights or data from previous years.

If you don’t mind, will you let us know if you hear back from the Turing folks? If we have any insights we will share it here as well.

Yes sure. Will let you know what happens. S22 is more bold now that his UT decisions are in. Said he would like feedback wherever possible so that he could course correct for any future reconsideration.

That is awesome! Your son is very bold to seek feedback, and I’m sure that will take him further in life. I hope UT will invest in our kids and spend cyles to provide meaningful feedback!

Any luck with getting a meeting?

My DS is in the Turing program. Dr. Lin will accept any CS freshman after personally interviewing them in Basic Data Structures as long as he is convinced they can handle the honors classes. He has accepted quite a few freshman even before the start of the classes and they have done exceptionally well.

My advise, do not give up hope on acceptance to Turing if this is your deciding factor to attend UT.

I’m a high school senior deciding whether to join UT CSB Honors. I wanted to know if CSB students participated in the exact same events as Turing students. This would include recruitment events, research positions, and general priority. I’m looking to join CSB because I’m interested in CS and Business, but I just wanted to know if I would still be given the same recognition by the college and recruiters as Turing students.

I have been accepted to UT CSB Honors (in state under McCombs), RICE (full pay) and UIUC for Computer Science (Grainger), they all appear to be great programs. I do plan on taking some business classes regardless of where I go. Any insight/recommendations?

Congratulations, you have some great choices! Did you attend the Discover CBHP day or the Owl Days? What were your impressions? BTW I was at the Discover CBHP day and thought they did a really great job.

I believe some others on this board have similar decisions, thoughts from others?
