Turing Scholars 2018

Similar to Dean's Scholar, I've heard that that Turings sends out their acceptances mid December and over winter break. However, I've also heard that CNS starts accepting Computer Science students as early as November, which is concerning because as far as I know, this hasn't happened yet for anyone.

If anyone gets accepted to Turings or CNS, please post here.

I’m wondering also!

My S got accepted into his major of Computer Science at some point over the past week. Don’t know exactly when the status changed because he hadn’t looked at it for a while, but when he looked last night, the major was there. He applied to Turing and Dean’s Scholars, but has gotten nothing from either of them at this point. He’s an instate auto-admit and he applied 10/15.

I got accepted to Computer Science as well over the past week. I applied 10/14 and am also an instate auto-admit. I’m fairly certain Turings will come sometime over the break.

I have no clue about Deans though.

Any further news on when Turings decisions are made? I got into the CS program and am waiting to hear from Turings.

I know of a person who just posted their acceptance on Facebook…

Really?

Still got nothing in my mail.

My son is Class of 2016. I went back and checked his letter to see when he was accepted to Turing. It was dated Feb 13, 2012. However, he did not submit his application until Nov 30, 2011 and he was Top 10 in Texas. He also applied to College of Engineering/EE and was accepted to Engineering Honors first. He is a double major, EE/CS. Turing is an excellent program, hope you get in. He had an internship with Dell his first summer as a freshman and has already accepted an internship with Facebook for next summer (2014). The Turing students are highly sought after by recruiters.

i am c/o 2017. letter was dated 12/20/2012, post marked 12/22/2012 received 12/26/2012.

Received my acceptance letter for Turings honors program today. My status has not changed yet.

\m/.

Congrats !!! It seems like UT CNS is sending letters. Nothing in my mailbox for my daughter. :)

@aximer When was your acceptance postmarked? When was the letter dated? When did you submit your application for Turings? I am also really interested in the Turing scholars program and am waiting for my decision!

@csman123, the letter was dated December 23 and postmarked December 26.

@Dad2013, any idea when Deans are going to mail out their letters? I’m still waiting. :)

No idea. My daughter is waiting for Deans scholar, not Turing since she is not for computer science. But all CNS honors decision could release almost same time.

My friend just got into Turing today!

can you plz post your stats if you are accepted?

Does anyone know if they send out all of the Turing Scholars acceptances at once for UT Austin or do they do the strongest candidates first and then maybe another wave later? My S applied and didn’t get a letter this week. :frowning: I wonder if this means he is completely out of the running. Also applied to Dean’s and hasn’t heard anything.

I wouldn’t start worrying. A friend of mine who has better stats than me and an equal number of CS accomplishments has not received a letter yet. I strongly suspect that he will get in, so perhaps they haven’t finished sending out all of them. Or they will send them out in waves.

Aximer:

I hope you are right. My s is an auto-admit, but says that he doesn’t want to go to UT if he doesn’t get into either Turing or DS. He has some other good options, but everyone in our family has gone to UT, so it will be kind of weird if he doesn’t.

If your s gets Computer Science as his first major, he should still consider UT even if he doesn’t get Turings. I’m sure you know that UT was ranked as a top ten computer science school in 2010. With the new gates building and new facilities, UT is no doubt one of the best CS schools in the nation. I assure you that there are PLENTY of opportunities for non-Turing CS students. And plus, he could always try switching into Turings his sophmore year.
