So I'm applying to:

Georgetown SFS (EA)-excellent interview
U of Chicago
Columbia (legacy)
JHopkins (legacy)
Tufts
GWU

oh and the essay are preeety good, also did some modeling, and come from a reasonably small public/lab high school.

anyone? purty please

in at jh and columbia

match at tufts

Uchicago will depend on your essays

thanks, but my #1 choice is gtown. I just don't know if I have a chance with the lower admissions rate and all.

What are the SAT II test scores, please?

will be taking them next week
Im expecting 800-Spanish (kinda stupid taking it but oh well), 750-800 WorldHistory and high 600s, low 700s on Lit

In that case, you are match at everyplace except Columbia where you are slight reach, and Georgetown SFS where you are slight reach.

Tufts is also a close call, but I consider you good there. Georgetown (non-SFS) is also a match.
Good luck.

Sorry to be a downer, but I don't really think Gtown or Tufts or UChicago or JHU are "matches". They are reaches in terms of your stats (your GPA is average for applicants to these schools, but your test scores are below average -- and an 800 in Spanish from a native speaker doesn't really count for much, by the way). There's a chance you get into some of these schools, but the only real "match" here is GWU.

I'm presuming the OP will be treated as a URM because of his Puerto Rican residency and hispanic ancestry. If not, I agree with lolabelle--otherwise, I'll stick with my original "chances".

P.S. I'm aware that all the schools will discount your "800" in Spanish. However, since they will only have one
"real" SAT II to go by, I'm presuming they will base your admission chances upon that. Since that will be a 750-800 score, that should be good enough for the colleges.

Source? I've never seen such a policy. (Yes, people speculate about such all the time, but none actually have evidence for it, from what I've seen.)

Being a URM with those stats will probably get you into Tufts, GWU, and JHU, especially since you're a legacy at the latter. I'd say Georgetown is a high match. Columbia will be difficult, but being a legacy may help (not to mention URM). Chicago will depend on your essays.

actually puerto ricans are considered as URM's. about the spanish sat II, I understand that they don't discount it. a puerto rican freshman at gtown told me that they aren't regarded as neither negative nor positive. I realize that a 800 in spanish doesnt really say much about me but I have to take 3 of them and I suck at math and science.

I think you'll get in everywhere.

Cranberries and stuffing :D

I think you have a decent chance at the schools you are applying to. It's really hard to say...I say just apply and go for it :)

thanks everyone! I'll find out about g-town in 23 days...oh the excitement of it all.
