I was accepted back in November and I've recently committed to go to school elsewhere, so today I officially turned down the offer of admission. I was wondering if that gives someone else my spot, instead of waiting until May 1 to turn them down. Good luck to everyone still waiting I hope everything works out.

^HOPEFULLY!!! Where have you decided to go?

I think it would open up a spot for another person to go to the school. I’m sure the school would like to find someone to take your spot so that they can still get money from someone. But yeah where did you end up going?

University of Florida, I’m from Florida, so its been my dream. I’ve been accepted to several universities that are ranked above, yet UF is my home. I still have other applications lingering out there and I’m not sure if I want to pull those or leave them in, otherwise it will always be a what if…

congrats kwal on your acceptance. and thanks for the spot, lol.

no it doesn’t. They accept a number of students based on their attendance rate, so if 33% of students last year decided to go after they were accepted, they’ll accept three times as many students as their ideal freshmen class size, and the only reason they’d offer people admission is if they got a dramatically lower attendance rate this year.

I’m not sure the exact % of this statistic for Michigan, and it varies from year to year, but they tend to base it on the past few years as well as trends over many years, so you could probably find it somewhere.

^
I think that may be accurate as the school expects around 40-45% of the students they accept to enroll ( according to college *******).

^
lmao
What was that last word you typed in

That was thoughtful of you kwal. Best of luck to you at Florida!

kwal…did they offer you any $$. If so, thanks for turning down the admit since that will free some of that up for the rest of us “poor” souls. Good luck at Florida.
