Turning down Chicago for ...

I noticed that it has been constantly asked, yet never answered, so I'll try again: BlacknBlue, where are you headed next year?

torn between uchi and williams. any insight?

dunno much about williams, but, like these things go, being the chicago forum, I'd bet that most people who replywill tell you to go to chicago....

haha Yes, go to Chicago. I will be there. :)

My son is going to Columbia. I loved Chicago on our visits. I didn't see Columbia (only son and husband visited). New York City was the tipping factor.

He turned down Cornell too. Too big and rural in his eyes (we live in rural ares so btdt).

momoffive

i've never seen a thread like this. it was started by someone who decided to attend another school (and imho, is not nearly as good as uchi) and is asking "who's jumping ship with me?" and there are five pages of responses reciting a littany of schools students prefer over uchi. if this wasn't so sad, it would almost be funny.

Many of the posts are not from people who are rejecting Chicago. I have responded a few times, I will be attending. It is just the way the conversation steers that makes me respond.

blacknblue, if you refuse to tell anyone where you are going to college, at least tell us why.

Hey BlacknBlue! Guess who? Hint: We attended the same high school.

Anyway, to the rest of you:

It's time to reveal BlacknBlue's little secret...

Drumroll....

As a number of you have guessed, he's a UChi reject... and as you can see, he's very bitter.

Don't mind him and please, let this thread (and his bitter comments) die already.

lol.....if that's true, then do you know where he's going to college?

I'd guess Swarthmore, based on his posts. Does it really matter?

Yup that's right

i visited both williams and uchicago. williams, to me, seemed a little too rural and out of the way for me. the town is literally one block, and they just had a cell phone signal tower set up last year. which meant that before this year, they pretty much had no signal on cell phones.

then again, i'm going to chicago, so i might be prejudiced.

swarthmore is an excellent school. if i got in, i might've turned down uchicago for it. but i didn't, so that's beside the point.

newsflash....i didn't get rejected by uchi. based upon the admit rates that would almost have been impossible. also, i don't know who anyone thinks they are or who i am, but i don't hang with scrubs.

Rejecting Chicago for U of Michigan Honors. Please tell me why is it a crazy idea, especially if U of Michigan is 50% of the cost of U Chicago in my situation.

It's not, sounds like a good decision to me. UMichigan, particularly the Honors program, is wonderful. Good luck.

blacknblue,

why not defend yourself with more facts about yourself, you seem a little mysterious to me, almost.

just a suggestion

hmm, i was unaware of anything that i had done that required any type of defense. of what relevancy are my particulars to any discussion had on this board or any other that i have chosen to comment upon?

it's just that you're on a chicago forum. and from the tone of your entries, it seems like you're supporting every other school but chicago. and we don't know where you're going or stats or anything.
