So you got accepted at WashU, but you're probably going to turn them down because you want instead to attend _____ (fill in the blank).

Last year my twin turned down Wash U for Carnegie Mellon (though I turned down CMU for Wash U).

I'll most likely turn down WashU for Stanford, but I feel pretty guilty about not going after all the mail, discovery weekend invites, e.c.t they sent my way...

I'm turning down WashU for Notre Dame. In almost everything, ND is better.

Undergrad Academics: ND
Grad School: WashU
College Town: WashU
Alumni Network: ND, no contest
Fun: ND
Sports: ND
Overall Name Recognition: ND, no contest
Religious Factor: ND
Community of Students: ND

Why wouldn't I go to ND?

For sports, you should have put no contest for ND.

on wut basis do u deem NDs undergrad to be better than WashUs? And a lot of the stuff you have is very subjective, thats not a problem, but it just seemed as if you were saying it like it was a foregone conclusion

hahaha, that's strange... i would turn down nd for washu anyday.

Well yeah, I am biased, lol. WashU, too me, is an excellent for research and pre-professional studies. On the pure liberal arts side of things (classics, english, history), ND seems to be better in my opinion. And the intangibles obviously put it over the top for me.

I will feel bad calling WashU and telling them I'm not going. Their staff is so courteous and professional.

yeah i think it really depends on what you're intending to major in and your personal taste for social life. I'd personally turn down ND for WashU

Seems like all the HAPPY, EXCITED, DELIGHTED people are getting great scholarship money...at WashU and at other places, too. The foot-draggers (like me) are weighing the finances. Happy, yes, but worried about the cost/benefit ratio. Many schools are out there; many are extremely great. We we are looking hard in NC and VA, too. No elite northeasterns, please!

Here in Florida we have the UF Honors college: 2,000 strong with more National Merit Finalists than any other place but Harvard. As a school within a school, it's fabulous. And it won't suck to watch the Gators rip the heads off the competition in football, basketball, swimming, volleyball, tennis, etc. during the well-earned study breaks. The only drawback is living in Gainesville....well, how about a few semesters abroad with the money saved on tuition? Add a new car, too!

I plan to turn down WashU for either Harvard or Rice. Harvard gave me much more financial aid (WashU skimped on me), and Rice gave me merit money.

Between Harvard and Wash U!? Harvard all the way!

I'll probably turn down Wash U for UCLA (in-state). I mean it's $45k/year vs. $23K/year for similar opportunities after graduation.

Wash U is giving me no aid. Dartmouth is giving me $19,000. Tough choice? Not really. And they wonder why their yield is so low...

Debating between United States Military Academy and ROTC at Wash U.....really liking the options avaible to me at Wash U (medical school, bme major).....we will see

Isn't the US millitary academy crazy hard to get into?

I wouldn't say it is any harder than Wash U, but it looks for different things. There is a lot more emphasis on sports and leadership positions, but I guess those are probably the reasons I got into Wash U.....2100 SAT, who know's how I got in.....I really wasn't expecting to. My acceptance has made me reconsider.

US - my son also got into WashU, but the price is killing us! Is it too late to go ROTC -- or can you opt for ROTC as a sophomore? Thanks.

washu or vassar. i can't decide.

washu has what im interested in (architecture)

but vassar just feels right.

i think i will end up flipping a coin

heyllama - where are you from? if it's east coast, i'd say go to vassar. also. stick to your gut. it's not gonna be wrong

i'm pretty sure i'm passing up wash u for brown.
